Chapter 2.

TW: P.A

Tobias looked at his clock yet again, debating going to school or not. He just wanted to lay there, in his own bed to melt away. Let the world fix itself.

'Tobias!'

His mother called;

'I'm getting ready to leave. Do you want me to drop you off at school?'

'I'm fine mom!'

Tobias called back.

His mother is a good person. She tries her best at everything including raising him and sticking around as much as she can, but balancing a police life with being a mother is difficult sometimes. There had been an obscure amount of robberies around town. With this his mother barely had time to be with him. She tries though and Tobias thanks her for that.

Finally getting his mind together Tobias managed to get his items together while getting dressed. After turning down the offer for his mother to drive him to school he ended up walking the full way.

Entering the gates of the school someone caught his eye. It was Violet. Tobias had been dating Violet for over 2 years now. She was needy and spiteful but he knows that he should be dating a girl, it is normal therefore it's only right.

There were a few things Tobias didn't like about her. One, she didn't like his other female friends just because they were being nice. Two, she would always tell him what to do and wear. Three, she would invariably try to kiss him. He didn't like kissing girls but maybe he wasn't ready for it. Maybe he's just nervous to start anything serious.

Almost immediately after Tobias locked eye contact with her, she ran up to him and yelled;

' Where have you been?! I've been waiting for 15 minutes for you'

'I'm sorry I had to walk-'

Before Tobias could finish his answer he was cut off by the bell. Without thinking he ran past Violet to his classroom. It was the late bell he knew that but he still wanted to get partial credit for attending. Following that he had to run up 5 sets of stairs since the elevator was broken. Some kids decided to see how many people they could fit in it and jump. No one was harmed but they were never caught.

Now entering the classroom late, it caught everyone's attention. Tobias started to sweat bullets quickly shuffling to his seat. He hoped no one would start piecing together his mistake. He felt more than enough like a fool, he didn't need other people thinking it too topping it off.

Tobias played with the tip of his pencil, tapping it on his desk slowly but steadily and glanced over to where David sits. Again his face heated up, he could feel his ears ringing and his palms sweating. He may have gone too much into a zone that he didn't notice he dropped his pencil out of his hand. Usually a pencil dropping in a classroom wouldn't make such a fuss however it was so quiet a drop of a feather would even sound like a brick.

Heads turned swiftly towards him as he looked around. The class was spinning and he could hear muffled whispers as if they were yelling. He couldn't take it anymore. Tobias got out of his chair, rapidly taking his bag in hand. The teacher made eye contact with him before he burst out of the room.
Everything was still spinning, the bells in his head grew louder the more he ran.

Tobias finally found a corner under the stairs to hide from his own mind. Yet you can't hide from your own thoughts. Tobias could feel more tears swelling up in his eyes, as the feeling before swallowed him whole.

His whole body was shaking as he tried to calm down. Tears ran down his face as he broke out into a silent cry. The cry turned into a sob. A sob that started at a minute then ten, then an hour. An hour turned into two, two turned into three, then half the day.

The last bell had finally rang and by then it had been 5 hours.

'5 hours of crying for no reason'

Tobias thought to himself. He wasn't quite ready to get up from his hiding spot yet or even move. He just wanted to sit there for a little bit longer. Another sob broke out and he didn't know why. Why was he crying again? There's nothing to be distressed about now. Everything is fine.

Someone must've heard Tobias; he could hear steps above him. A shadow of someone peered under the steps. Then a head poked under.
It was David. It could have been anyone. It could have been Violet or someone else that made him uncomfortable but no, it had to be david.

'Hey, you're crying again. Are you sure you're okay?'

Tobias just sat there with his head in between his knees. More panic rushed over him which made him shake more.

David looked at him with worried eyes and sat down on his knees. Tobias could feel him shuffling closer. He felt so helpless at this moment. He didn't know what was happening to him. Why did he suddenly feel this way? He didn't even know what he was feeling. Everything is just so confusing and frightening.

A hand touched his shoulder as he jerked back. Looking up he could see David's face close to his. Maybe a foot away, just looking at him. Tobias loosened up his stressed body, turning his head up to meet his eyes. He felt a warm hand hold his face in place while the other was trying to keep him steady. Tobias was still shaking even though he had relaxed a little.

This blonde was slowly killing Tobias, he knew that he was panicking and he knew that the other boy understood what was happening, but not himself.

The other boy's hand sat there resting on his face. He felt so tired at this point from the crying and shaking that he had just experienced. He just wanted to go to sleep.

'Are you okay?'

The blonde said in a deep irritated voice. His hand pushed away some hair that had fallen in Tobias's face and spoke again.

'Are. You. Okay.?'

Tobias just sat there. His head was empty. Nothing came to mind.

The boy slowly started getting more angered with him, speaking in a louder tone, but Tobias blocked everything out and just focused on his touch. He leaned his head into the blonde's hand and started drifting off.

The next thing he knew he was awoken by Violet. She looked at him angered and yelled;

'Why did you leave me out there! And where were you all day?! The teachers were getting worried! I was about to send out a search party idiot! Dammit everyone though you had gotten kidnapped!'

'Are you even listening to me?!'

Tobias was interrupted by the feeling of paper up his sleeve. He took it out of his cuff and into his hand. Violet was still yelling at him. He ignored her and everything she said, focusing on the note. Before he knew it she took hold of his arm and dragged him to the exit.

'Dumbass! You scared the shit out of everyone! And what the hell happened back in the classroom?! Maria said you just ran out of the room after your pencil fell! Are you really so sensitive that you drop something you freak the fuck out?!'

'I'm sorry I was just so overwhelmed with everything and I just feel awful I don't know what is happening to me, and I-'

Violet interrupted and hit his face with the back of her hand;

'You never care about me no matter what you do! You just run away from everything you bastard!'

Tobias just walked away. He didn't have enough energy to deal with this right now. He wanted to go home and sleep.
He felt something in his hand while walking home. It was a small note. Tobias stopped and leaned against a brick wall to read it. The handwriting was small, that of some one neat yet in a rush. The note read;

'You fell asleep so I left. If you ever have another panic attack you can call me or get someone's attention. It must've been scary. Stay safe.

-David

P.S here's my number; 559- ### - ### - #.

'A panic attack?'

Tobias thought to himself.
