Chris and Aviva short story

Thing change

Aviva was tossing and turning in her hammock. Zach had just stolen the miniturizer and she couldn't stop thinking about all the evil things he could do with it. After about 5 more minutes of tossing and turning she gets out of her hammock and heads up to the to roof of the tortuga to think and to have a peaceful moment to herself in the cold autumn breeze. She climbs up to the roof and sits down on the cold metal  roof wishing she had brought a blanket. She shivers and brings her knees up to her chest and stares up at the sky. The moon was full and the stars were shining bright. All of a sudden she hears a noise, she jerks her head to see Chris climbing up holding a blanket. She puts on a smile and says "you scared me. I thought I was the only one up." Chris smiles back at her but he knows something is wrong. She never wakes up in the middle of the night.
"I heard you get up." He says. He sits down next to her and wraps the blanket he brought around them.
"Thanks, I was starting to get cold" she says. Chris looks at her closely and sees tears streaming down her face.
"You can't blame yourself for losing the miniturizer to Zach." Chris says immediately knowing that's what she was upset about.
"It's all my fault, Chris. I left it outside for a second thinking it was fine and his Zach-bots were right there and I didn't even notice" she cried. She put her head in her hands out let out a sob. Chris puts his arm around her and tugs her close to his chest.
"We'll get it back Aviva I promise"
"I just feel so stupid. Normally you guys are the ones to do something like that" she laughed but only half heartedly. Chris smiles at her because he knows it's true.
"There's also something else that's been on my mind lately...." Aviva says, she's been thinking about it ever since they started the Wild Kratts Crew. Her feelings for him. Every day they grow but she could never tell if he likes her back. They've been friends for so long and she's been wondering if she'll ever tell him. She figured that since she was in a vulnerable state right now she might as well go for it.
"What is it Aviva?" He takes her hands and stares into her eyes very intently. She lets out a deep breath and says
"We've been such close friends for a long time and..... you mean so much to me. If I tell you it might ruin things or make it awkward." Chris tenses up. He wasn't expecting her to say that at all.
"I love you Chris, I always have. I never wanted to say anything because of our friendship." She bites her lip and looks down. She feels like she said too much. She stands up and starts to walk away thinking that she had messed up by saying that when he grabs her arm and holds her close.
"Funny you say that because I feel the same way about you too. You're so smart, kind and beautiful. Ever since I met you I felt this spark and I always thought that you just thought of me as a friend." He laughed. They look into each other's eyes and all of Avivas worries went away. The only thing she could think of was him.
"I love you too Aviva" they smile and they share a passionate kiss. They wrap their arms around each other, completely consumed of one another. They break away from their kiss and from that moment Aviva knew that everything was gonna be okay. They would get the miniturizer back from Zach and her and Chris could start this new found relationship between them.
