Battle.

Something awful.

All humans seem to love starting them.

There have been way too many battles and way too many wars to count them all, but there is one specific battle that changed human's way of living. It's written in every single history book across the 31 known nations. It doesn't matter where you were born or what social status you were born in, you'll find out about it eventually, because no one will ever forget The Battle of a Thousand Names. That is a perfect name for the battle; not because of the soldiers who fought in it, because there were certainly more than a thousand; it isn't because of the amount of people who died, because there were also many. It is named that because throughout history it's been named by all countries differently. The Battle of Blood. The Battle of Darkness. The Battle of the Light. The Battle of the Sorrows. The Battle of the Souls... And my personal favourite, The Battle of the Nameless Spirits. Now when I say everyone knows how the story of the battle goes, that's actually a bit of a misconception; no one knows it the way it actually happened. As we know, humans have a way of making up stories to make themselves look good, so none of them are completely true, and you end up not trusting a single word of what they've told you.

I'm writing this story how I saw it all happening, so people actually know the truth. No, I'm no human, going around telling lies to others.

I'm an elf.

I hope you like long stories, for this one is not short.

And it started long ago, with the birth of one particular human child, who was to become an elf. That child was me. My name is Hankio.

 My name is Hankio
