Chapter 11 A Stop In Town And A Gaze At The Stars

                                 ( Y/N POV )

It was the next morning and everyone was on alert and reflecting on the expedition . They know about Annie so I have to meet up with Reiner and Bertholdt later tonight . We have a free day today so we can do as we please , no training , no work . I decided I'm gonna go to town by myself and think about what we do next . I go to my drawer in my shared room and changed into a long sleeved white blouse and I put a black corset on top of it . I threw on some black pants and my black boots and headed to the stables .

When I got to the stables I saw Jean . " Hey horsey ! " I said but he didn't respond . " Hey Jean , you realize I'm not talking to the horses right . " I said with a grin . Jean spun around to face me . " Really Y/N , that isn't funny ! " I started laughing . " It's funny cause its true ! Sorry horse face ! " I said . " Yeah whatever . " Jean said as he gave a soft smile . I turned to greet my actual horse . " Good morning Cookie ! We're going to town today girl . " I said .

" Who is ' we're ' ? I wanna come ! " Jean said . " Just me and Cookie . I'm only bringing one horse with me , sorry Jean . " I said . " ARE YOU SERIOUS Y/N ! " Jean yelled at yet another joke about him looking like the horse he is . " Bye Jean Boi ! " I yelled back as I hopped on my horse and dashed away . It had been a long time since me and Cookie had a run without titans chasing us so I decided to take an extra long route so we could have a good 20 minute sprint .

( In Town )

I hitched up Cookie and started walking . I've managed to save up about 600 bucks over these past few years . ( A/N , I don't know if that's a little or a lot back in this time but I'm sure it's enough . ) I guess I'll go eat something and maybe get some new clothes . I continue on the street until I see a little shop . I walk inside and I'm hit with a scent I have haven't smelled in a long time . It was fresh bread along with freshly cooked meat .

                        ( Bertholdt POV )

" Yeah , well I might take a ride into town too . " Reiner said . Right now we're just walking and talking . It's been kinda weird since Trost , Y/N has been more distant from Reiner and I . When she is around it makes me happier , but , there's an odd tension between her and Reiner . I'm not sure if it's because he hit her back in Trost or if something happened and I don't know about it .

" Hey um , what's been going on with you two ? " I asked Reiner . " Oh well me and Krista are friends now and - " He started . " No no no , I mean you and Y/N . " I said . " Oh , I don't know . I feel like she doesn't pull her weight you know , she doesn't do anything and ... she's kinda in the way . " This pissed me off badly . I shot him a glare .

" Y/N doesn't do a lot cause we don't want anyone to be suspicious of her . That was YOUR plan ! " I yelled . " Woah Bertholdt , calm down . " Reiner said , however I was no longer in the mood to listen to him . I stormed off to the training grounds .

                                 ( Y/N POV )

" Thank you ! " I said to the shop owner as I left the store . I had just eaten my lunch , a cut a of meat along with some fresh baked bread . I brought 2 beef sandwiches and a baguette . It was very expensive cause meat is rare in Wall Rose . I went for a walk down the Main Street in search of clothing stores .

A few minutes later I saw one . I went inside the clothing shop and greeted the woman running it . I browsed the aisles and saw a few things I wanted to get . I picked up a black sleeveless dress . The dress was short and looked quite nice . I go inside the changing booth and try it on . It fit nicely , hugging me in the right areas . I put the dress over my shoulder as I went to look at more stuff . I got a few more shirts and pants and a pair of shoes . I gave the money to the shop owner and left the store . Maybe I'll swing by the little park and sit there for a while .

                             ( 6 Hours Later )

I spent all afternoon in the park reading and watching the birds . It's around 6:30 PM and if I hurry I can make it back to the solider grounds before dinner time . If Cookie and I take the short route it will take us about ten minutes , then I could shower and get changed before dinner at 7:00 PM . I rounded the corner and saw my horse hitched where I left her much earlier this afternoon . I put my things in her saddlebags and climbed on her . I turned around and headed for home .

                   ( About 10 Minutes Later )

Once I reached the Solider grounds I put Cookie back in her stable , fed her , and went to go shower . After that I changed into a short blue dress and went to the dining hall . I saw everyone there . Eren , Krista , Jean , Connie , Reiner , Ymir , Ber- . Wait . My eyes scanned the room but I could not see the tall boy . Everyone was here except him .

" Hey Eren , have you seen Bertholdt ? " I asked . " No , now that you mention it , I haven't seen him since this afternoon . Maybe you should ask Reiner , those 2 are always together so it's actually weird that they aren't now . " Eren said as he smiled at me . Mikasa looked displeased at the fact that I was talking to Eren . " Yeah , it's kinda weird , anyway , thanks Jaeger . " I said as I started making my way outside .

I went and sat on a bench underneath a tree . " Y/N ! " I turned around and saw Reiner . Great . " Hey Reiner . " I said . " Y/N have you seen Bertholdt ? " He said . " No I haven't . I was wondering if you knew where he was . " I said in confusion . " Well you need to go find him , it's almost time for dinner . " Reiner said . " Are we going to have ' the meeting ' after dinner ? " I asked . " What meeting ? " He said . I'm getting sick of his personality changes every minute . " Never mind . I'll go find him . " I said and went to go look for him . I have an idea of where he's at .

I hiked through the forest just passed our training grounds to a special spot only me and Bertholdt knew about . Just behind the woodlands was a lake and an open field . I saw Bertholdt sitting on the rock we always sat on when we come out here . I guess he heard me cause he whipped his head around the moment I took another step . " Oh , y/n it's you ! You scared me ! " he said and sighed in relief . " Who else would it be silly ? " I said playfully . " I don't know ." He said with a similar tone and patted an open spot on the rock next to him .

"You know it's almost dinner time right?" I asked Bertholdt. "Yes I know but.." he said as he looked down with his brows furrowing. "What's wrong?" I asked. "Nothing it's fine!" He said trying to reassure me, of course I don't believe him. " I have some sandwiches from earlier, you want one?" I said remembering I had the sandwiches on me. "Sure, thank you y/n." Bertholdt said with a smile. We ate in the serene silence. After we finished the sandwiches we went back to our headquarters. "Well good night Bert." I said as I was about to sneak back into the girls barracks. "Good night y/-" before he finished I hushed him.

Walking around outside were all of our commanding officers. Levi, Hange and Erwin were by the girls barracks. Bertholdt took my hand and pulled me inside the boys barracks. Reiner, Connie, Jean, and Eren stared at me. "Hey guys..." I said awkwardly trailing off. "What're you doing in the boys barracks y/n?" Eren asked. Bertholdt answered for me. "The commanders are walking around outside so she's going to stay here for the night." He said.

"Where am I going to sleep?" I questioned seeing that all the beds were full. "You can sleep in my bed." Said Bertholdt. "No it's alright Bert." I said waving my arms in front of me. "Oh my goodness just sleep togetherrr." Said Connie dragging out his sentence like a sleepy drunk. My face turned red at his proposal. I simply hopped on the bed and patted the space beside me signaling to Bert to snuggle up next to me. He got in bed beside me and the other guys filled the room with awws and laughter. "Shut the fuck up and turn off the lights, I'm tired." I growled. The room then fell silent and Reiner shut the lights off.

I got closer to Bertholdt and put my head on his chest. "Good night." I whispered to him. "Good night y/n." He said resting his arm across my waist and hips. With that I felt... oddly safe...and fell asleep.

(Yall I know it's been a hot ass minute like a couple of years. Sorry for the long wait but I've been busy with school and everything going on but now it's summertime and I might continue this book. No promises to how long it'll take me for all the chapters. love y'all, Meleah B)
