In the Western Empire, the Dukedom of Gatyana:

"Welcome back sir." the maid greeted at the door. After a long day, her master had finally returned. The sight of him covered in blood was a usual thing.

"Go draw a bath." Ren ordered her. On his way back, he had to deal with a group of thieves but they clearly didn't know who they were targeting.

Duke Ren Gatyana, the cold and stern male lead. Over the years, Ren had grown an immunity to the emotions, sympathy and Mercy. The perfect male lead.

And to be fair he was much more terrifying than Prince Vincent. He sighed and went to his study. He sat down and leaned back in the chair.

"Where are you..." he whispered to himself and covered his eyes with his arm.

It's been so long since he was in the presence of Kia. He had searched the whole empire but still hadn't found her. Was she not in the Western Empire?

"There you are Duke." a soft voice spoke from the door. He gave a glance to the woman and closed his eyes again.

"Your Highness, what brings you here?" he asked.

"You're covered in blood again...I hope you didn't do anything reckless." Princess Mia said, avoiding his question.

"It's nothing that I couldn't handle." he answered. He didn't know that she was here but he also didn't really have time for her. Princess Mia is kind and sweet and looks a lot like her brother but she is quite gulable. If it wasn't for her brother's protection all the time, she would have broken down a long time ago.

"My brother is looking for you. He wanted to remind you about the party later." she said.

"I am well aware but how come you came personally? Why not just sent a servant? The Gatyana ground is dangerous. If something where to happen to you on these grounds, I will not be there to help you." he said. She felt an uneasy feeling and just nodded. The grounds of Gatyana were centered in a forest where it was mostly cloudy.

"I'll be on my way then." she said.

"I heard lady Michelle will be here. Will you be alright? She's quite clingy." Duke Ren mentioned.

"I can handle it. I have for the past 2 years." Prince Zephyr answered with a sadened expression.

"She's into you it seems. What was it she said?" Duke Ren asked.

"I fell in love with your Highness at first sight!" Prince Zephyr quoted and cracked a smile.

"Please just be cautious of your health." Duke Ren said. When they arrived in the garden they were greeted by a few men and a few ladies giggled and whisper at the sight of the two arriving together.

"Think nothing of it." Prince Zephyr whispered to Duke Ren and they sat down to start up some conversations. The Empress was worried that Zephyr wasn't socializing enough and decided to arrange a party for him. Of course on the other side of the table a very unhappy lady sat pouting at the fact that she was so far away from Zephyr. Lady Michelle was in love with Prince Zephyr and she was quite clingy. Zephyr never had the heart to tell her that he didn't feel the same way. In fact, her continuesly clingyness made him extremely uncomfortable.

"Did you hear what happened to Count Fredrick?" a Lady whispered.

"Yes, how cruel. They said he was murdered in his own house."

"He was found dead on the ground and was stabbed five times. They said his body-"

Zephyr broke out in a cold sweat and covered his mouth with his hand as he lunched forward.

"Ahem." Duke Ren said clearing his throat. The deepness of his voice and the glare he gave, made them all shut up and a tight atmosphere covered the table.

"His Highness is sensitive to these things. Change the subject." he ordered.

"Yes, of course. We deeply apologize!" they said.

"How unthoughtful of you all. Bring his Highness a glass of water!" Michelle said.

"That's quite alright Lady Michelle. I'll be fine." Zephyr said sitting up and swallowing the feeling down.

"Go clear your head. I'll stall them here." Duke Ren whispered to him.

"No, I'm alright. " Zephyr said.

"Your Highness, are you alright? You look quite pale" Michelle asked.

"I'm fine Lady Michelle." Zephyr said.

"The yearly covering ball is being held here this year right?" A lady asked and then they soon changed the subject.

"Is that true your Highness?" a man asked.

"Yes, I will personally be arranging it. Since everyone from any Empire is welcomed, the Emperor thought that I was the perfect candidate for the arrangements." Zephyr said.

"How admirable! Will you be there your Highness?" Michelle asked in excitement.

"It is a masquerade ball. Our identities must be hidden so perhaps I will or perhaps I won't." Zephyr said with a smile. Michelle pouted in her seat.

"It will probably be truly big. Still not as big as the Annual August celebration." a lady said.

"Yes of course not! Your Highness will surely attend this year?" a lady asked.

"As far as I'm concerned, the Imperial Family will go. But I'm not quite sure yet." Zephyr said and took a sip of his tea.

"His Highness can not talk much about it. It is a matter regarding the Imperial Family and no one else." Ren said. Everyone felt awkward again. Ren had that effect on people.

The Annual August celebration.

A celebration held every year in the Southern Empire. Each Imperial Family of every country attends to celebrate the peace made by their ancestors many years ago. It is also the only time of the year that all the imperial families gather in one place.

It is true that many such events are held throughout the year but the Northern Empire declines and they don't even bother to invite the Southern Empire since they are always on their own and decline the parties.

"What an excitement." they all said and continued to talk about things from parties to the latest fashion and politics.

But Zephyr couldn't help but notice the staring from the other side of the table from Michelle. Duke Ren glared at the lady and she looked away.

"It's really fine." Zephyr whispered to Ren. Ren only scoffed and went back to listening to the conversations.

"Hey, you haven't touched your food or tea yet?" Zephyr told Ren. Ren looked at Zephyr with a dumbfounded expression.  The tea and sweet tasty pasteries made him sick. Zephyr chuckled and patted the Duke on the shoulder.

"I'm only kidding." he told him. It was clearly noted that Duke Ren despised tea. He was picky about food and hated anything sweet. Tea tasted like water with leaves in it. He only drank coffee from time to time.

But no one really knew his preferences. When he was at a meeting they only offered him water and he also declined.

Anyone who offered him cake or chocolate was scolded and maybe even lost their lives.
