Ok so basically when Devi and Diya were 4- about to go into kindergarten, a family friend reached out to the Vishwakumars, offering one spot at his elite boarding school in europe, for grades k-12. Their parents decided for Diya to go, as they felt she would thrive in the school there. Throughout her going to school there, Diya flew back to the US at least once a month, and stayed for the whole summer. Her and Devi were SUPER close, and they facetimed ALL THE TIME. Obviously, Diya flew to the US for her Dad's funeral, but had to return back to school immediately. Although Diya wanted to move to California permanently, she had to finish her freshman year first, otherwise she'd have to retake the WHOLE year in California. So skip to now, when she's about to tell Devi she's coming.
