How it all began

Maka's POV
It's been three years since I defeated the Kishin. After the Kishin was defeated, the group and I have become popular like never before. It took a whole year for everyone to stop asking us to be their meister/weapon. Now there's just a few people that would ask us out on dates. I've been getting the least of it. Although I'm only looking for one particular guys approval. That's right, the great man hating, violent, defeater of Asura, Maka Albarn has fallen for a guy. Not just any guy though. I have fallen for my partner, Soul Eater Evans. Though if I must be honest with myself then I fell for him the day he played the piano for me. I felt as if we had connected better than any soul resonance. I could see he had a dark side, but would always protect his family and friends.

Lately though he's been accepting dates and has become distant. Right now he was on a date with my cousin, Evadyne Claire. It turns out that not only is she my cousin but also Blair's half sister. Making her part meister and magical cat. Her weapons are Yin and Yang Hikato. They're kunai that are able to turn into a katana during their soul resonance. Basically you can say E. Claire is a neko ninja.

We met E. Claire and her weapons during a mission. We were in Paris, France looking for two pre-kishins that were close to turning into full kishins. She had just made her weapons into Death Scythes. So it was her first Death Scythe mission. Meaning that Soul and I had to show them the ropes since Soul has been a Death Scythe for a full year now. While on the mission Soul couldn't keep his mind focused on the mission. He kept on thinking on how hot E. Claire was, but through our soul resonance and my soul perception I could sense something different coming from his soul. It was like he really didn't care about her, more like he had feelings for someone else, but I guess I was wrong.

After the mission E. Claire had asked Soul out on a date. He agreed to go out with her once our injuries healed. So today was the day he was taking her to dinner. While I'm here doing nothing just waiting for Soul to get home. Suddenly I hear Soul's motorcycle outside and I run to the window. 'Well speak of the devil', I thought. I saw Soul get off his bike and walk up the stairs to our apartment. When he walked in he looked angry, sad, confused, and something else I couldn't place my finger on it. He must have noticed my staring because he asked, "Oi! Maka what are you staring at?" I started to blush furiously. I couldn't believe I was caught staring. I mean to do that without even realizing that really doing it.
"Ummm... I... You l-looked angry, m-mind telling me what's w-wrong," I asked while stuttering.

SOUL'S POV

"Ummm... I... You l-looked angry, m-mind telling me what's w-wrong," Maka asked stuttering, but I was so taken aback from the question that I didn't notice that she had stuttered. I had just gotten home from my date with E. Claire and found Maka looking near to tears. 'She must have been thinking about her mother,' I thought, 'It's been two years since Maka found out her mother had died. Her mother had died in an accident. A meister and weapon pair were trying to kill a pre-kishin and it just so happened that Maka's mother was the bait. The mission was successful, but Kami never made it. Maka was depressed for months but she got over it. Although just mentioning her mother brings her to tears,' but something tells me that it was about something else.

"Oh, E. Claire brought Yin and Yang with her on the date. Have I'd of known that she was bringing them, I would've brought you with me," I stated as a matter of fact. They had acted like it was a coincidence that they were going to the same restaurant as E. Claire and I were. "E. Claire and I will be going on another date tomorrow. Since Yin and Yang disrupted our first one. So do you mind if the Hikato's come and stay here with you while we're out on a date," I begged with my puppy eyes. She can never resist my puppy eyes.

"Fine, but I don't know how I'm going to keep them here while you two are out. When will they arrive," she asked. When I looked into her eyes, they held sadness. As if she wished that it was something else.

"You know you don't have to, if don't want to," I said with a worried expression showing on my face. 'I hope she agrees. I don't want anyone interfering with my date again. I don't love E. Claire, it's just that it's annoying if someone interrupts you while your out on a date,' I thought. The reason I say I don't love E. Claire is because I haven't got to know her yet. So how could I have a opinion about her. 'Although I can say she's good-looking and can really fight, but she'll never be as great as M-' I was thinking until I was interrupted from my thoughts by Maka shaking my shoulders, and screaming my name.

"Soul-kun," she exclaimed. She was looking at me with panic showing in her eyes. I must've been thinking for too long. So grabbed her by the shoulders and pulled her into my embrace.

"It's okay Maka, I was just lost in my train of thought," I explained. She can get very worried about me. Ever since I got knocked out through the black blood when we were fighting the Kishin. Maka worries about me when I stop responding to her. She started nodding into my shoulder. "They'll be here around two o'clock, and don't worry just do what you do to get me to stop bugging you. Turn on the Tv and make some food. Okay," I reasoned with her. She got out of my embrace and nodded. "Alright then, let's get some sleep for tomorrow," I stated, "Goodnight Maka."

"Goodnight Soul-kun," she said and after that yawning and walking into her room, and shutting the door. Once she had done that I copied her movements and walked into my room. After I got ready for bed I crashed right onto my bed. I didn't realize how tired I was because once I layed down on my bed, I instantly fell asleep.
