Chapter 4

**Addie's POV**

I woke up to the sound of pans hitting the ground along with some curse words following. I recognized that voice as Luke's. I swung my feet over my bed and onto the floor and walked into the bathroom and nearly screamed. I was looking a little rough this morning. I turned the shower on and took my hair out of the messy bun it was in and jumped in the shower. I quickly got out and changed into a pair of sweats that had our high school name on it and a Nike hoodie. I headed downstairs and saw Luke was still here and I didn't see a trace of our parents. I'm assuming they never came home. I noticed Luke was trying to make something but by the smell of it he had no idea what he was doing.

"Whatcha making?" I cheerfully asked him while sitting on the Island stool.

"Pancakes." he bluntly said as if it was obvious of what he was doing. I walked over to the stove and glanced over his shoulder to see his burnt pile of pancakes sitting on the counter. I snorted and earned a glare from him. He huffed and turned the stove off and threw the burnt pancakes away and turned around while crossing his arms around his chest.

"Oh you think you can do better?" he sassily asked me.

"Yes." I laughed and shoved him out of the way and mixing the ingredients together to make the pancake mix. I poured some into the pan and flipped it when it was ready. Soon I had 4 perfectly golden pancakes. Two on each plate for the both of us. I sat his plate in front of him. He rolled his eyes and shoved a piece into his mouth with a fork.

"I've had better." he mumbled with a mouthful of pancake in his mouth. I giggled a little and ate the rest of my pancakes.

"So i'm guessing our parents never came back?" I asked him as he was on his phone. He's always on his phone I thought to myself.

"I don't know." he said not caring what I was saying. Well okay then. He really isn't happy about this.

"You know, you're not the only one not wanting to be married." I frowned. He looked up at me and shook his head and walked out the door. Whatever. His mom can deal with him. I remembered what Calum had told me at Starbucks the night I walked there to think about things. I decided to DM him and ask him why Luke hated me so much.

@calumhood: hes stubborn and he has a gf right now

He has a girlfriend? That explains a lot. I kinda felt sad and I don't know why. There's no way I could have any sort of feelings for him. I barely know him. But I did want to know him better and get on good terms with him. I know our parents won't make us get married until after graduation and right now we're in our junior year so we have time. Hopefully by then he'll be okay with the idea and won't shut me out. I suddenly jumped and lost my train of thought when I heard the door open and then close. I went down stairs and saw my mom and dad standing by the front door taking their shoes off. I bounced down the stairs and followed them into the kitchen.

"How was bonding with Luke last night?" my mom smiled at me while taking a sip of her coffee she had with her.

"It was fun until this morning. We watched movies in my room and got a long all night. Then this morning after breakfast I told him I wasn't the only one upset about out situation and he got mad and stormed out. Mom, he has a girlfriend. This isn't a good idea. Why can't I find my own love?" I whined.

"Addie, he'll come around. Stop complaining and be ready by 5. We're going out with Liz and Luke for dinner." she shooed me upstairs. I groaned and flopped on my bed turning my music on and scrolling through Instagram and Twitter for awhile. I soon got bored and took a hot shower. I got out and decided to curl my hair and do my make up real nice. I wore a cute black dress with a red flannel tied around my wait. I looked in the mirror and smiled at myself. Wow looking good Addie. "Addie! C'mon let's go!" my dad yelled up the stairs. I grabbed my phone and headphones and headed to the car.

We shortly arrived at a fancy Italian restaurant that I had no interest in. We got our seat inside and waited for the Hemmings to arrive. I played around on my phone like I always do until I felt someone slide into the booth next to me. I looked up to see a very bored Luke staring at his menu. I scoffed and looked at my menu as well.

"So, Addie, I was thinking, how would you like to spend the summer with Luke in our beach house? Just the two of you?" Liz asked me out of nowhere.

"Uhhm, well.." I was saying until Luke cut me off "actually mom, we can't. I'm busy, Addie is probably busy." Luke said while looking over to me. I nodded a little with a sad smile. I actually wouldn't mind that but Luke obviously thought otherwise.

"Oh nonsense, you guy will be staying there, It's final." Liz shook her head and smiled at Luke and I. Luke sighed and looked over at me.

**Luke's POV**

I cannot believe what my mom is doing. I have a really hot girlfriend that I'm not really wanting to break it off with for this marriage thing. I'm not into the whole settling down thing. I was pissed. I looked over at Addie and nodded my head towards the door. She nodded and excused the both of us.

"Can you believe that? They're insane!" I whisper yelled as we walked outside the restaurant.

"Uh, well it's not that bad of an idea. We're gonna have to get use to each other and get along if this thing is ever gonna work" she shyly said softly.

"What do you mean? You want to?! I don't want to settle down! And defiantly not with you!" I harshly yelled. Okay, yeah she's hot and rich but she seems like the type of girl that likes faithful relationships and I like to have fun. She sadly nodded and walked back inside. Wow, I'm an ass. Ugh whatever. I called my best friend Calum and asked him to come pick me up so I could get away from this mess.
