It was three years after the White Star, Cale Barrow's death. Now, Cale was alone in a room that he had forbade anyone from entering in his villa.
The room was dedicated to his lover, who had died right in front of him. It was decorated with blood red gems, symbolizing their connection as the walls were embedded with crystals, carefully carved into scenes of a person's life.
It was a ballroom, to be precise. Cale had decorated it with his own hands. He refused others to taint the sacred ground for his heart.
Today, while his family was away, Cale took the opportunity to visit the room, dressed in the best suit he had just gotten recently.
His shoes shone under the light as he stepped into the extravagant room. It was only him, him alone to replay those sweet memories of love.
He couldn't help but sing his feelings of longing. It was a way they would communicate with. They would sing songs together to express themselves to each other, barely speaking without hints of music in their voices.
"Dancing bears
Painted Wings
Things I almost remember.
And a song someone sings
Once upon a December."
The lack of warmth from his lover that he was so used to. Cale ignored the sadness in his heart as he descended from the stairs.
"Someone holds me safe and warm.
Horses prance through a silver storm.
Figures dancing gracefully across my memory."
The carvings came to life, as two figures spiralled around and chased one another. There were many more of those figures around Cale, happily doing their own things, their crimson hair fluttering.
As Cale walked through them, he couldn't help but feel lonely. These figures of him had their red haired lover. Among them, he was the only one alone.
"Someone holds me safe and warm.
Horses prance through a silver storm.
Figures dancing gracefully across my memory."
The figures started dancing. Cale was in the middle of the circle twirling as he danced along, just without a partner.
"Far away,
Long ago,
Glowing dim as an ember"
He felt someone embracing him from the back, leading him through the dance, just like how his love used to.
He thought it was just an illusion, but chose to lean into the warmth he had missed for so long.
"Things my heart
Used to know
Things it yearns to remember
And a song someone sings"
The figure suddenly lifted Cale into the air and made a spin. It wasn't how the dance should be. It was a move so special that it brought memories.
Cale was afraid. He didn't want this dream to end if it was one. But his doubt quickly transformed into happiness when the last sentence of the song ended.
"Once upon a December"
He heard the voice he was longing for so long singing along.
Cale turned around in shock.
"Star!"
It was Barrow, who was embracing Cale, smiling gently.
" I'm back, Fluff."
