"What are you doing back home early?" I ask Eddie as he walks in through the door, a few hours early.
"They fired me," Eddie says defeatedly, sitting next to me on the sofa.
"What do you mean they fired you? What happened?"
"They let me go, Lyssa. They can't afford to keep me on and since I was the last one hired, I was the first to be let go. I'm sorry, Lyssa."
"What are you sorry for? It was out of your control."
I wrap my arms around Eddie, pulling him into me. We'll figure something out. We always do.
"I don't know what to do, Lyssa. How am I supposed to provide for you and Ollie?"
"I'll go back to work early. You stay and look after Ollie."
"You want me to be a stay at home dad?"
"Until you get a new job, yeah."
"Will it be enough? Will we be okay?"
"Just about. Are you okay staying home with Ollie?"
"Of course I am. He's my son. I'll still be doing my gigs at The Hideout every Tuesday night though."
"Then that's what we'll do. I'll go back to work, you look after Ollie whilst I work and you should still be able to do your gigs, Eddie. Just don't be late home."
"What would I do without you Lyssa?"
He pulls me into his chest, placing a small kiss on my forehead.
"What time does Ollie usually wake up from his nap?"
"He needs feeding right about now, why?"
"I'm waking him up. I want a cuddle with my son."

"I'm going to kill him. How late does he want to be? He knows I have work in the morning," I say, pretty much to myself because Ollie can't understand a word I'm saying.
Out of nowhere, he starts crying. Almost like he did indeed understand what I was saying.
"It's okay little one. Mommy isn't really going to kill Daddy. She's just going to have some very strong words with him about not coming home at the time he said he was going to and leaving me alone with a very needy baby," I ramble as I hold little Oliver in my arms.
Suddenly, the front door bangs open, followed by the hurried footsteps of Eddie. He bursts into the room but stops when he sees my icy glare.
"What time do you call this?" I whisper shout at Eddie, trying not to distress Ollie.
"I have an excuse."
"It better be a good one."
"It is. I promise."
"Spit it out then. I haven't got all night Eddie."
"My band... we've been recognised by a talent agency. They think we've got a shot at making it big."
"What?"
"You heard me. We were just going over the details. They want us to go to their recording studio and make a debut album. Sweetheart, this is what we've been waiting for."
"Oh, Eddie. I feel bad for wanting to rip your head off now."
He chuckles lightly but briskly makes his way over to me. He snatches Oliver from my arms and pulls me into his chest.
"Does this mean you could be leaving to go on tours? Leaving me alone?"
"Fuck, no. You'll be coming with me."
"And how is that going to work?"
"I don't know. I don't care. But both of you are going to be there. If I get big, of course."
"I thought you already were," I say with a wink.
"Maybe we should put little Ollie here to sleep and have a bit of mommy and daddy cuddle time," he whispers into my ear.
"I like the sound of that."
