Chapter 46: Misunderstandings

"Up and comer, Edward Munson of the band Corroded Coffin has been seen arm in arm with a woman. After speculation about his current relationship status, that he usually keeps quiet about, has it finally been discovered? Find out more after the weather," the news reporter says as I flick through the channels.

What the fuck?

I know this is the longest he's gone without sex, but surely he wouldn't cheat on me.

I head into the hallway to our phone and ring Eddie's hotel, asking to be put through to his room number. It rings a few times and when it's picked up, I hear a woman's voice.

I slam the phone down. I can't believe this. He's cheating on me.

"I'm sure he's not cheating on you, Melissa. Eddie would never do that to you," Robin says, sipping on her glass of wine that she brought over, along with ice cream.

"Then why did a woman answer the phone when I asked to be put through to his room? Why would there be a woman in his room?" I say through tears. Fortunately, the kids are already in bed so they don't have to see their mom in this state.

"There's got to be some sort of explanation. He loves you, you know he does."

"What if when he's gone on this tour, he's realised that there are much better women out there?"

"You guys are best friends, you've been married for 5 years, been through shit that no-one else could have ever been through together, including his death and you have two beautiful kids together and he's wanting more, Melissa."

"Then why is he with another woman, Robin?"

"I don't know. You'll have to ask him."

"Honey, I'm home... that felt wrong to say. Sweetheart, kids, I'm home," Eddie says as he walks through the door. Ollie and Penny run through the house towards their father, whilst I stand back, glaring at Eddie. "Lyssa, what's up?"

"We need to talk," I say and Eddie's face drops.

"Kids, go play in your room. Daddy will be up shortly," Eddie says to Ollie and Penny. They run off up the stairs, heading towards their room, leaving me and Eddie alone.

"Can you please explain to me why you were on the news saying you'd been spotted with a woman hanging off your arm? Whilst I was sat here with your fucking kids!" I shout at Eddie, my words spitting venom.

"What are you talking about?"

"Here I was, enjoying my day. Just put the kids to bed and I flick through the TV channels to find something to unwind with and I hear on some news programme that you were spotted arm in arm with another fucking woman!"

"When was this?"

"Last night, Edward."

"Don't fucking call me Edward."

"I'll call you Edward if I want to call you fucking Edward, you cheating asshole."

"What the fuck are you talking about? I haven't cheated on you. The only woman I held arms with was the manager we just signed with."

"Then why, when I rang your hotel room, did a woman answer the phone?"

"That was you?"

"That was me."
