Chapter 16

Zoe's Pov.

I walked into the house and was greeted with all the boys' hollers and hoots. I smiled at the unexpected visits, even though the boys always came to my house anyway. Lately they haven't been coming over though, so it was nice to be reunited again.

"Heyyyy Zoe! We're having movie night." Mason shouts as I see him mixing a bowl
Of something chocolatey.

"What's that?" I ask with a raised eyebrow. He smiles at me before sitting the bowl on the counter.

"It's brownie batter. I'm baking!" He cheers while wiggling his hips making me laugh at how ridiculous he looked.

"Where's my mom?" I asked. If she was out then they would know better than I would on where she was.

"She went out for some more groceries, you know she has to feed a bunch of hungry wolves." He pats his stomach. I fight the urge to call him a fatty because he was currently whipping up a batch of brownies.

I saw Damon sitting on the couch staring at us with a faded smile on his face. I walked over to him and sat on his lap.

"Hi." I said while smiling at him. He snaked an arm around my waist and pulled me into him tighter.

"Hi." he kisses my forehead. I decided to bring up my conversation with Alexander at my detention because I felt that it would help us with the game Friday.

"So... I talked to Alexander and-" I was immediately cut off with a sharp look from Damon.

"Why would you talk to him?" I could see a fire burning in his eyes and I started to feel that maybe saying something was the wrong idea.

"Oh shut it, I was just talking to him because he had some plans for our game Friday." I hit him on the chest lightly. His face turns into an annoyed expression like he just sucked a sour lemon.

"Like he knows what's best for us. He's probably just trying to throw us off of our game." Damon untangles himself with me and sits back in the couch leaving me without his warmth.

"Yeah, well I'm sure you know that he was the Quarterback before you were-"

"Really?!" Brandon interrupts me. He had also been in the kitchen making some brownies along with Kaden and Jayden. It was like a mess in there. They had a bunch of open boxes and other substance that I thought was shady.

"Yeah, he was the Quarterback and get this, he even went against the Rangers back then... and he won!" I explain to them with excitement while jumping up and down on the couch. They looked just as shocked as I did when I first heard it.

"No way!" Mason says with his mouth open.

"Yes way!"

"Bitch get outta town." Mason says in disbelief. I smile at him while nodding my head.

"So he gave me some tips and they actually made sense. We could totally use them in the games." I could see Damon shaking his head from the corner of my eye.

"He's just screwing us over." He says stubbornly. I turn back towards him while giving him my best pitiful expression.

"But I really want to win!" I whine at him and his face stays the same as it was before.

"Don't fall into Alex's trap. For all we know, the Rangers could have a whole new plan to try and win. Who is he to tell us how to play the game when he played it a long time ago. Things have changed." He states the last thing with venom in his voice. I stare at him with disbelief in my eyes. How could he ignore his brothers advice to win the game? Just because he had some sort of resentment towards Alex, doesn't mean that he should risk our chances of winning.
