"Look Katie I didn't mean to," the boy says from behind her.
"Ahuh" Katie rolls her eyes with her eyes closed. She looks at her house that she could run to at any moment.
"Please Katie I'm sorry" the boy looks at her with a deep apology in his eyes.
"Ahuh," she says looking at the door of her house.
"Please.."
"I'll see you tomorrow John." Katie looks at the boy with pain in her expression, she didn't mean to show this much emotion it just kind of happened.
She ran toward her house. She was done. She needed away. Her mom was on the couch like she always was, sleeping.
"Mom, I'm home," she said, running to her bedroom. A tear had slipped, how could it have slipped? She didn't want her mom to see her like this. She didn't want anyone to see her like this.

Memory
"Hey, Katie pass the ball please" John had said.
"Can I play?" she said with a playful grin. Katie looked up at John.
"Sadly no, it's boys basketball," John said, rubbing the back of his head. "Maybe next time."
"So you don't think girls can be better than boys?"
"No... I mean I don't think... it's the coach's decision.." he said awkwardly
"Sure... and that's why you won't introduce me!" she said, having an idea.
"Don't you think that would be awkward, and... Stupid?" he said with a bit of a yelling tone.
"Stupid?" oh now she was mad first he didn't want her to play and he calls her idea stupid

She turned on her phone for a distraction and looked at the time. 8:00. She looked at her phone. 20 missed messages, 15 calls, and 4 voicemails.
Dang this man works fast.
She looked out the window. John was still on the basketball field.
He is probably calling me again or something.
She had her phone on silent so she didn't care.
She looked up at her ceiling, then at her cellphone.
Okay, maybe I was a little too harsh...
She looked at her phone
Katie
I'm sorry
Please listen to me
I don't want you to play
This is my thing
And I might seem..
Selfish
But can we not have our things?
I didn't mean to
Please Katie don't put your phone on silent
Let's play tomorrow.
Katie?
Okay fine, let this ruin everything..
Let this ruin that friendship we had in third grade
I'm sorry.. - itsJohnny
She quickly texted him and looked at the text with an approving nod.
Johnny, I'm sorry about the fiasco. I didn't mean much. I just didn't like not being able to spend time with you.. ur not selfish.. I am. -KatieSadie
