It was just an average day at work for me, dusting and rearranging the displays in a manner I thought would please my grandma. Then a man walked into the museum. I had never seen him here before and I was curious. He was definitely a looker. With his silky blonde hair, angelic blue eyes, and very muscular build. I had to walk over and introduce myself.
"Um Hi," I said a bit akwardly. I had never done this before, just your typical greeting "Welcome to 'Muzeul de Vampiri' (that's the name of the museum) if I can be of any assistance to you, please let me know." That's it. Never anything like this before. This was different. I was introducing myself, not the museum. I am a hot mess right now.
"I'm Anastasia, is there anything I can help you with?" I'm so stupid, once again diverting off the main objective and bringing the museum into it.
"Hi, I'm Chase. Quite a sight you have here, angel eyes." He said with a smirk on his face.
"Thank you, This is my Grandma Evangeline's pride and joy." I said wondering why he was giving me that smirk.
"I'm sure you are." he stated as he was now grinning ear to ear.
"Well, I, um.." I let out a nervous giggle. I have to give him credit where credit is due, I had never heard that one before.
"Would you mind if I gave you my phone number?" he quickly stated recognizing my nervousness. " I know we just met, but I'd like to take you out to lunch. Maybe tomorrow?" He said in a smooth voice while giving me the best puppy eyes he could possibly muster. And it worked.
"Well, with a face like that how can I say no?" I said as I was absent mindedly twirling a strand of my dark hair because I was so freaking nervous.
The whole time this exchange was taking place, I could feel Kierian's eyes burning into the back of my skull. He absolutely hated it when I spoke to guys, especially good looking ones, says they are all assholes and that I don't need that hassle in my life. Up until now I agreed with him. But this is different, I can feel it.
Chase and I exchanged numbers, and with that he smoothly walked out of the museum.
"What the hell was that, Ana?!" Keirian nearly shouted at me.
"That, my friend, was me getting a date!" I exclaimed happily
.
"With him? Are you serious? Ana, you know the hot ones are always trouble. If it isn't one thing it's another." He said with a very serious expression on his face.
"Well mister, if I want to go on a date with someone I am going to do just that. You know for a fact that I have never had a real boyfriend to speak of, I am 18 years old now and I....Wait a minute, you are not my father Kier, and I will do as I damn well please. I don't have to explain myself to you." I said with a humph for emphasis. When in all reality it looked like I was pouting.
"No, Ana, I am not your father, but I do look out for you. You are like a sister to me and I'm not going to let some guy come waltzing in here like he owns the place just to end up hurting you. I am a guy, despite what you may think, I know men...they are all the same." He said with pleading eyes.
"Okay, stop it, just stop. I am going on that date. If I suspect something is up with this guy errm, Chase, then I will cut it off there. You honestly can't expect me to be single for the rest of my life Kierian." I poured out nearly breathless "This a pointless arguement."
"No, I can't 'expect' you to be single all of your life, but I can hope for it." He said with a shit eating grin on his face. "Just promise me that you will use your better judgement and really think about this. Watch this guy like a hawk, if you get a wierd vibe, promise me that you will break all ties with him?" Once again he stated with those pleading with me.
"Kier, that seriously burns." I said in a sarcastic tone. " I thought you felt that I was a good judge of character." I stated feigning hurt.
"Oh stop it Ana, I just don't like this whole dating thing with you. If I could I would keep you in a damn bubble just to be certain that you wouldn't get hurt. I would protect you with my life and you know it. I can't stand this. But, if this is what you really want, I have to be a true friend here and support you and end this pointless arguement as you so 'kindly' put it." He said in defeat.
Just as I went on to say more, grandma came walking up to the both of us. "What are you two arguing about now?" She said in her beautiful English accent.
I shot Kierian my best 'Don't say a word' look.
"Oh, you know us" he said shrugging his shoulders. "Always bickering about something Grams."
"Oh shush," she said with a pat to both of our backs. "You best be getting back to work now, these displays aren't going to dust themselves." And with that she turned on her heels and walked away.
Kierian shot me a handsome grin and we both got back to work quietly for the rest of the afternoon. Both of us thinking in silence.
