Chapter Twenty
Interviews

Alexandria was impressive to outsiders like them. The road there got a bit complicated, but it was worth it. Alexandria was everything Aaron had promised. A metal gate and tall metal walls guarded the property. Nothing got through there without their say-so, just like Aaron said. Aaron helped his limping boyfriend, Eric, get in before he turned to everyone else. There was another man at the gate, who opened it further so they could get a peak inside.

"We brought dinner," Daryl said, holding the possum he just shot.

"It's okay. Come on in, guys," Aaron offered, stepping aside to let them pass. The group walked in slowly, taking in the sight of Alexandria. The houses, the trees, the grass. It was like a neighborhood from before.

"Before we take this any further, I need you all to turn over your weapons," the man who opened the gate said. "To stay, you hand them over."

"We don't know if we want to stay," Rick told him. He carried Judith with one hand and carried his gun in the other.

"It's fine, Nicholas," Aaron assured him.

"If we were gonna use them, we would've started already," Rick added, which did not help their case.

"Let them talk to Deanna first," Aaron said.

"Who's Deanna?" Abraham asked in response.

"She knows everything you'd want to know about this place," Aaron explained. "Rick, why don't you start?"

Rick turned around and saw a Walker snarling outside the fence. "Sasha," he warned and the girl, who turned around and aimed her weapon, then fired. "It's a good thing we're here," Rick commented.

"Do you mind if I film this?" Deanna asked as Alyssa walked into her living room.

Alyssa shook her head. "Go ahead," she replied while looking around the room. Bookshelves, candles, pillows. It felt like she was walking through a museum of what a house looked like before the apocalypse. It was an odd feeling. She sat down on the armchair across from the couch where Deanna was seated. She sat with one leg folded and the other dangling over the chair.

"What happened to your arm there?" Deanna asked, pointing to the sling wrapped around her neck.

"Oh, I got shot by cannibals who were trying to murder us," Alyssa explained in the most casual way possible. "One went into my shoulder, the other took a chunk out of my side." She lifted up her shirt to show the stitching on her side. "I'm pretty sure the bullet is still in my shoulder somewhere."
