(The middle of this chapter is not optional, at least read the last sentence!)

Sienna's songs

Alex G: Adam
The song is about bullying a kid named Adam, and how he hides the trouble he has at school from his parents. Adam kind of implies that the narrator, who is the bully, does it out of some kind of affection for Adam
(I dont know if that is relevant but I think Alex has even mentioned that in an interview somewhere)

Siennas origin:
The song was based off of when she was in elementary and early middle school when she was in a group of girls who would constantly bully kids in the school, and this time the girls decided to bully a boy named Adam, sienna didn't want to because she had feelings for Adam, but she didn't wanna lose her popularity

Alex G: Mary
Mary in this song represents weed (Mary Jane); the whole song evokes the laid back, careless vibe of being high ‘I feel fine, I wanna stay with you and waste my time’. Whilst the song functions as a love letter to weed from Alex, he offers a word of warning at the end, ‘Mary is the girl who leaves you to rot, she says I am real and you are not’. Important to notice the musical change to a moodier sound. This warns the listener about the dangers of smoking too much weed as it can make you lazy and paranoid in excess.

Sienna's origin:
Sienna's older brother (Jack) had a huge addiction to weed and because of that we went broke and when he couldn't by anymore, he killed himself, so she wrote the song about weed and the way her brother Jack would act and the end was for the purpose of addiction and the bad about weed

Alex G: Animals
*literally just that he does animals not people*

Sienna's origin:
She grew up with animals and sense she was mute, she related to them in the fact they couldn't use words so they would always be miss understood for when they were actually asking for water, and not to go outside

Alex G: So
*we don't know exactly what it's about*

Sienna's origin:  sense she was mute in middle school and early high school she was super suicidal and she wasn't able to tell anyone, so the only way she could show people was write stuff, people still didn't wanna listen and read, so she moved on to hurting and hideing her little sister, then she started giving gifts, which didn't work, she started making herself throw up or getting herself sick, which didn't work either, the she gave up

Alex G: String
*we don't know exactly what this song is about*

Sienna's origin:
At her school she was the smartest girl, and the best looking one at prom, and the girl had a board with 3 long strings on it with pictures of the prize winners on them, every time they had a contest going on her mom would force her to enter, and every time she would win, which means she was the girl on the string hence "are you a girl on a string" lyric came from
