Another day in Storybrooke had begun, which meant another morning of breakfast in Granny's for the residents of this small town. The morning rush was always the busiest time and so Granny was never in the best of moods, wanting to get every customer in and out as quickly as possible.
"Ruby can you hurry up with the coffee," Granny shouted as a way to speak over the loud chatter of the customers. Currently, every table was full and there seemed to be a line that if one more person were to attempt to walk through the front door, they'd be pushed back outside by another customer.
"I'm coming okay!" An angry Ruby shouted back, as she tried to push past person after person to reach the counter. Finally after a lot of pushing and shoving, Ruby arrived at the counter next to Granny, holding out the pot of coffee to the old woman, who had so desperately needed it, at the thought of that Ruby rolled her eyes as she placed the pot down.
"We really need to start limiting the number of people we let in at a time," Ruby spoke the words of wisdom as she grimaced at the swarm of people that stood before her. She always questioned handing in her resignation or at least trying to get herself off of the morning shift. It was just too many people, at one time.
Finally, after two hours of manic chaos, the diner barely had a person inside of it, all the staff could now take a breather. Ruby was just about to finish up for the morning and go out for the day, she had gotten ridden of her apron and had her bag and coat in hand until she spotted a friend of hers sitting at one of the tables alone.
"Hey Lila, I was just about to leave do you wanna come?" Ruby asked the woman who was sat on her own. This girl she called Lila had light brown hair and blue eyes but on the surface in a town like Storybrooke, she looked as ordinary as they came. Yet that was only the surface and no one ever seemed to dig much deeper than a first look.
"No, Sorry Ruby I'm waiting for my sister, she should be here soon," Lila's voice wasn't necessarily the softest of tones with it sounding northern English and all but it always held a kind quality, even when she was trying to be snarky.
"Okay, well I'll see you around Lila," Ruby said in a chirpy voice and then went to leave diner, meaning Lila was the only person left. She'd been waiting twenty and still her sister hadn't shown up, she always seemed to have this incredible talent for never showing up on time, that was one thing that bugged Lila about her sister but there wasn't much she could do about it nor would she ever try.
She'd even been so bored that Lila had resulted to use a small levitating spell to rotate the spoon that sat with her coffee, to try and find some sort of entertainment, that was until a loud bang and then an unsteady shuffle of feet alerted her. "I'm here." The bang was a result of a young woman entering the diner. In appearance she closely resembled Lila but her hair was a lighter brown and her eyes resembled closely to that of emeralds.
She approached the table that Lila was situated at and slid into the booth in front of her sister. "You do know what time it is?" Lila's voice was stern to her sister, Aelin Looked down at her non-existent watch.
"Nope, I'm right on time. So what was so important that you had to drag me out of my apartment for?" Aelin spoke in mock annoyance. Her sister only gave her a stern look but couldn't keep it up as a chuckle escaped her lips.
"I can't say I haven't missed you, Ali." The two sat in silence for a few seconds as they both just enjoyed being in one another's company again. Aelin gave her sister a look as to say 'you were saying', once her sister noticed she started explaining. "I got a tip from an old friend. It's in Wonderland." Aelin's eye's widened slightly as she understood what this meant for Lila.
"So what are we doing sitting here, when we should be finding a way over." Aelin's voice held annoyance but also confusion, if her sister knew where it was then why wasn't she trying to find it?
Her sister shook her head. "It's not as simple as that. Wonderland can only be accessed by a small number of people and right now I'm not one of them." Lila's face seemed to fall when she spoke, a look her sister knew all too well, she was sad, but not only sad she was longing, longing to return to a world she once called home.
"Well if you can't get us there then we should be finding someone who can. Not sitting around here hoping for a very unrealistic miracle." Aelin spoke the last part with amusement lacing her voice, trying to cheer her sister up.
"If you waited for me to continue, you would know I already have someone who can help and we're meeting him tonight." Aelin now sat there twiddling her thumbs as boredom swiftly overtook her.
"So what do we do now?" Lila's head perked up at her sister's words as she thought for a second.
"Girl's day."
