Glistening stars filled the desert sky of northern Egypt like the most beautiful art alive with love and peace. Two things princess Kissa of the Cat clan known as Felines only dreamt of. The night was peaceful, filled with sounds of the earth that sleeps. Her only sin was she fell in love with her clans rival enemy. The prince Adnan of the snake clan known as Apophis from southern Egypt. Under strict orders of her mother Queen Amunet, Princess Kissa was to stay hidden in the palace walls keeping her pregnancy a secret.

The King and Queen believed that a palace slave had impregnated their daughter. Kissa knew that keeping the identity of the father a secret was the only way to protect her unborn baby.
Princess Kissa walked further away from the Palace breathing in the night air when she was striked by an arrow behind her. She fell on her stomach which caused her immense pain. Kissa screamed calling out for her maid. " Ife! ah, hew, hew. Ife!" she cried out laying on her side brushing her stomach as her water broke. "Impossible I am due in the next fool moon" she said to herself while trying to breathe.

One of the night guards heard her screams and ran into the Palace to look for Ife who was in the princesses room preparing a bath. " Ife, come quick. I am afraid it is the princess she is in trouble! Said the night guard whilst trying to catch his breath. Her screams where that of great pain. I think it is the baby. " Go, make sure she is safe, I will come shortly with the midwife". Ife said to the guard and ran disappearing into a passage.
The princesses pain only worsened. This worried her as she only thought of the safety of her unborn child.

As she steadied her breathing a female figure stood in front of her blade in hand. "You!" A frightened Kissa said. "What are you doing here?" She asked the lady.
" You did not think I was going to let you have my brothers baby now did you Kissa?" The Princess of Apophis Dalila said with a sinister smirk. She crotched down to Princess Kissa and gave a heartfelt lough. Dalila enjoyed watching Kissa in pain. She could not afford to let this baby be born. Not only did the unborn child pose the threat of bringing two enemies together but this unborn child would get in the way of her claiming the thrown of Apophis.

"Where's Adnan" Kissa asked pain evident in her voice. " What did you do to him?" She asked, tears in her eyes as she seemed to be falling unconscious. " My brother got what he deserved. You know very well that the crime you two committed is punishable by death" Dalila responded with no sign of sorrow for her brothers fate.

Dalila pointed the tip of the blade on Kissa's stomach. " Don't worry princess. I will not kill you. Death is not a good enough punishment for you. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same for this thing inside of you". Just as Dalila was about to pierce Kissa's stomach. A sound of a vicious raw emerged. Dalila turned around a black face with dreadful yellow eyes and Sharp teeth stared her in the face daring her to move. She firmed her grip on her blade and launch for the black panthers body missing.

The panther strode forward with a fierce growl showing of its sharp three-inch fangs. The panther was large and gruesome. With a swift move she kicked the Panther in the face. Dalila knew that she had to run and so she did.

The panther came closer to the frightened yet week Kissa and lay its head on her neck as a form of comfort. Dalila noted that the panther had not followed her. She reached for her bow and arrow and aimed for Kissas stomach. To her surprise a being jumped before the arrow giving its life to save the unborn child. Impossible she whispered. Why would an Apophis save a Feline. The Apophis Dalila had seen was not a member of her clan but rather the great cobra known as the naja haje.
It is said that it only protects the direct bloodline of Nehebkau the serpent king. According to the scriptures all of the Nehebkau bloodline was massacred thousands of years ago. Dalila reminded herself of ancient Egyptian history. Just as she was gathering her thoughts, she saw figures emerging from the palace and decided to take her leave.
