Is Your Color Black Or White?

Chapter 1

Ugh, it gets so exhausting going to school then work, study, sleep and blah blah blah. My life isn't even as interesting anymore when you live alone. Aside from having to keep the secret that my family, the 'Marquez' as said, are a mafia family. Yet, I still have to go to school and have a normal job because I needed a sense of a normal life and fortunately it has been turning out pretty well. I go to a private college and live in a luxurious apartment that my dad obviously pays for but I still have a job for some reason which I don't know why but at least it gives me something to do since I only have one friend. My best friend Josie and she is the crazy opposite of me but like they say, 'opposites attract' ;)

"Wanna go out for a drink tonight Aalis?"

"I can't, I'm sorry I have to work the late today and Ima get fired if I bail again"

"So you're ditching me... Again?"

"What? Josie, that's not ditching you"

"Ditched"

*Aalis laughs* "Josie, that's not ditching if you only just told me. I promise that next time I'll have as many drinks as I can so I'll make up for not being there tonight"

"Aww, fine then"

"Bye"

"Goodbye" says Josie.

She is a complete wild card but I love her, she's almost a sister to me since I only have brothers. Josie is the only person that knows my family secret but like I said she's my best friend and has been with me forever. We have always been going to the same school and even go to the same college. I'm not the type of person to go out there, especially not all by myself but I feel like soon I'll start becoming someone who's life is just as wonderful and adventurous but for now i'd like to try to focus on my studies and myself.

-The next day in biology class-

Josie walks into class looking like a complete zombie, rubbing her hand on her head back and forth to sooth herself.

"Hey, Josie. Do you regret going out to drink all by yourself?"

"No shit, I'm so hungover I missed first period, it's fine ima just make it up tomorrow. Take a photo of the lab before you turn it in then send it to me please"

"Sure"

As Josie turns to get her books from her bag she notices a ginger haired guy walking into the classroom. He looks to be about 5'10 or so and has freckles. Now I know what type Josie likes because I've been with her since I was born and that's because she's my mom's best friend's daughter. Josie loves to get herself into trouble because she has a thing for guys with ginger like hair even if it's dyed or natural. I worry for her because she always gets her heart broken whenever she falls too hard.

"Oh my god, who the fuck is that?"

"No"

"What?"

"I said no. You always fall for those type of guys and you end up getting played, I already know. So, no."

"Seriously, Aalis? I've been single for two years and you can't let me at least ask for his name?"
