The arcade

Chapter 2

I put on my jacket and head out of the house with Vance.

My auntie Jane told me that Vance has changed a bit and he's quite mean to a lot of people, but around me and his mother he's the complete opposite.

Vance takes me to this arcade around the corner.
I walk in with Vance and immediately all eyes are on me and Vance.

Jeez Vance is popular.
A group of boys walk up to Vance. I'm guessing it's his mates.

"Vance who the fucks this chick?" One of his friends say.

"She's my cousin Blake, and don't go calling her chick again" Vance talks back.

I'm gobsmacked.
Go Vance I guess.

"Vance I'm gonna go look around the arcade be right back" I say.

He replies " okay, just be carefully Lisa".

I was around and I go and play the basketball game.
I put in my 50c and I start shouting basketballs through the hoop.

One of my basketballs fall out of the hoop and land of the floor.
I go pick it up but a boy picks it up for me.

"Hey I think you want this, could get you an extra 3 points" he laughs.
This boy doesn't seem like a jerk, so imma make some effort to be nice.
"Thank you, defo gonna need those 3 points, want a game?" I ask.
He joins in the basketball game with me.

"So you new around here? I've never seen you before and you look about my age?" He asks.

"Yes I'm new here, my names Lisa Hopper" I reply.

"Wait Hopper? You related to Vance Hopper?" He asks me.

"Yes, he's my cousin, there he is over there" I say.
I point at Vance.
"Oh sorry we cannot be friends, your cousin did nothing wrong. I'm just scared of him gotta go bye" the boy walks off.

Wow. Didn't even catch his name.
What a jerk.
I hate it when that happens
Vance did nothing wrong to him.

I head on over back to Vance and as I'm walking out of the arcade with Vance. All eyes are on me.
Again.

We head on home and I get ready for my first day of school tomorrow.
