"No, absolutely no," Lalita firmly denied her permission to let her son go clubbing with some girl he called Heer. Pushing past him she headed towards the living room. In fact she was holding ransom his motorbike keys just in case. Jai of course didn't need his bike since Gaurav was bringing the ride. Nevertheless Jai didn't want to leave without his mother's permission.

"Bebe, I'm only going to a club with her. It's not like I'm going to marry her there," Jai argued. "I would never get married without your consent,"

"You don't need my consent beta, you always have my consent. You can marry whoever you want to provided they can do the following three things: treat you as their equal, get you out of bed on time and somehow convince you to do all your homework!" Lalita listed her preferences while her son followed behind. "Also, at this moment I'd prefer you marrying her than taking her to a club. At least you'll be safe here at home. You don't need to go out, she can herself come here for the ceremony." Lalita said disarming her son with her twisted logic.

Jai looked over his shoulder at Chunky who shrugged. It was the first time he'd even heard of such a consideration.

"Either way, I'm not risking you tallying up another injury. You've already got bruised ribs, your face is half scratched so do you want to earn a third strike and get some broken bones?" She asked sitting down firmly on the sofa. She was worried about his safety and felt he would be safer at home than out at night.

Jai jumped over on to the sofa beside her. He crouched there and looked at her softly.

"Listen Bebe, accidents will happen regardless of where anyone is. There isn't a place where there are no risks." He said. "Waise, how was anyone supposed to know there would be a horse in the middle of the road?" Jai blurted out.

"Horse? Road? Which horse on which road?" Lalita's expression made Jai immediately bite his tongue. He proceeded to change tack. Getting off the sofa he rested on his knees before her. Resting his arms and chin on her lap Jai looked up at her with those big eyes of his that he knew tugged her maternal heartstrings.

"Look Bebe, if you really want me to get married then you'll have to let me go to this club tonight. After all, that is where your bahu will be. I'm going to have to leave the safety of this house to convince her to join our little family. See times might change but the need for consent doesn't. Otherwise these hands aren't going to be tied in holy matrimony but in steel handcuffs. I'm not going to end up taking saat pheras at the mandap, but pacing sau circles in jail!" Jai held up his clenched fists. Lalita reached out and twisted his right ear.

"When did I say not to get her consent? If my bahu doesn't want to marry you, then even I'm not going to let her marry you! I'd send you to jail in your room to consider your actions. Also most importantly, what kind of bahu are you going to find at this club?" Lalita asked curiously.

"The Gauri kind Aunty," Chunky chirped taking his spot beside Lalita on the sofa.

Jai had called him over and told him to bring his gear. They were hitting the Arena tonight and well Chunky didn't even wait to say no. He'd run straight out of his room to realise he was still wearing his emoji print shorts. Once more appropriately dressed he picked up Gaurav and came to Jai's house.

"You know...sundar ho aur susheela, rang chandi sa chamkila, degree bi ho, fashion bi jaane..." Chunky began. "However...ho Sheila jaise hottie aur jaane duniya daari piya ko sab kuch hi na maane!" Chunky slapped thighs and laughed while Jai blushed.

Lalita laughed releasing her son's ear to listen to Chunky chuckle beside her.

"That Aunty is the kind of bahu my brother's dulhan is. She studies hard at college, parties harder at clubs. You'll find her walking on ramps and torturing him in his dreams. Why else do you think he never wakes up on time? Think about it aunty, if this is his condition now what is his condition going to be when she permanently moves in? You might need to rethink the wedding plans for his own safety. Forget the club, with your bahu's ghar pravesh home will get even more dangerous for him." Chunky teased.
