She got up another day, falling back into her unbroken rhythm.
She hoisted her heavy backpack onto her shoulders as it dragged her down bit by bit everyday.
She didn't bother with breakfast as the bus would be arriving soon.
The bus went past, too bad it wasn't hers.
Time ticked by as she checked her phone seeing that the bus was ten minutes late.
She texted her mom when the engine of the bus could be heard in the distance.
She typed a quick 'never mind' as the bus halted with its fumes clouding the air.
She sat down and opened up her backpack to make sure she got her homework done.
The bus reached its final stop as she looked up from her phone.
She walked down the steps of the bus hearing her name being called.
"HEY EM!" The tall male shouts running over.
His short brown hair shined under the sun as his hazel with hints of green sparkled with life.
She felt her heart flutter as their best friend ran over stumbling on the rough terrain.
When he finally reached her she smiled at him her black hair waving in the wind, he felt his heart pang knowing he wouldn't have a chance with her.
The school bell rang as she shut her locker revealing a ginger male.
"Hey you're Emerson right?" He asked with sly look.
"Yea, but call me em" she stated annoyed with him using her full name.
"Okay EM, you're friends with Noah right?" He questioned putting slight dramatics when saying her nickname.
"Yea, why?" she asked with mean look growing on her face feeling protective over her best friend.
The final bell rang before she was late and successfully cutting him off.
"Sorry I have to go" she quipped.
His heart raced as he heated up glaring down at the floor.
His hands start to shake as his glare got worse until a hand was put on his shoulder.
He tensed ready to throw off whoever was on him.
"You're kasim, right?" A raspy voice asked.
He turned around feeling his heart calm down a bit.
"Yes, I am" he shot back.
"I am Noah, I'm supposed to show you around here" he smiled feeling prideful of his school.
"Okay, lead the way" he bit back hateful words.
Noah smiled a bit more seeing him relax "Okay kas, we should go to our class".
Not soon after walking out the door Noah fell to the floor his glasses sliding across the floor.
"Ow.." he mumbled to himself feeling angry at whoever knocked him down.
Kasim quickly caught onto the situation and snapped his head toward the stranger with ginger hair.
The ginger haired male started laughing but was quickly cut short to a punch.
"Ow! What the hell?!" Yelped the ginger haired male.
He could feel someone on top of him as his eyes were closed.
Noah finally grabbed his glasses and saw kasim on top of sullivan.
His eyes widened and quickly grabbed Kasim while speed walking away and into the bathroom.
"Ok Kasim, I really appreciate you doing that but sullivan is going to fucking kill us" he whisper yelled fear clutching his heart.
"Ok Mr.pretty boy, I get you have never been in a fight before but I can handle my own" he said feeling slightly annoyed.
The bathroom door opened as skinny boy walked in, his eyes caught Kasims while he quickly sent a mean glare.
The door shut as the two faced each other while foot steps could be heard walking away.
The day came to an end as Kasim and Noah made their way to a tree, when they came to a stop Noah quickly grabbed a branch spooking kasim.
"What are you waiting for kas?" Noah questioned with a bright smile reaching his hand out for kasim.
Kasim cracked a smile and took his hand, pulling him up with a quick thanks from kasim.
The black haired girl made her way down the hall feeling her heart flutter at the idea of seeing her best friend again.
She quickly approached the tree and set her bag down grabbing a branch.
She hoisted herself up but hearing two voices, she saw Noah and "someone else..?" She said out loud.
The strangers head shot towards her quickly getting in a defensive stance.
"It's okay kas, it's just em" Noah said with a smile.
She dragged herself up further feeling jealous of this 'kas'.
"Em this is kasim but I call him kas" Noah smiled at his new friend, receiving a small smile in return.
She felt a pang in her heart seeing them smile at each other, her eyes watered lightly.
"It's nice to meet you kasim" she mumbled her voice wavering.
"Are you alright em?" Noah asked feeling concerned for his friend.
"Im fine Noah" she stated hiding her emotions.
"Ok em, I'm always here for you" his tone showing more concern.
She smiled at him and said "thanks Noah".
"Anything for a friend" he said gleefully.
"I have to go, my bus is here" her heart shattered at the word 'friend'.
The bus reached its final stop as she walked off feeling sullen, her eyes still watery.
She closed the door to her room and cried, she cried so hard for the first time.
"A friend? That's it?! I WAS JUST A FRIEND THIS ENTIRE TIME!?" She raged and threw her phone across the room.
She collapsed onto her bed and shut her eyes and cried silently.
