Nineteen was nervous.
Oh geez, she was sweating bullets. Her palms were shaking, she bit her lip with so much force that she had to stop before she tore it open. She had everything she needed, she just finished her outfit, and her makeup removal was ready for action. She stared herself in the mall mirror with uneasiness, heaving a few deep breaths, and wiping her face lightly as to not smear her eyeliner.
"Alright Nineteen.. You've got this.."
She broke down and held her hair in her fingers, careful not to mess anything up. She couldn't cry.
She wouldn't cry.
Nineteen was nervous, but she couldn't stay that way.
Peeking outside the bathroom, she briskly made her way towards the jewelry store, careful to tilt her hat downwards to make it harder to get a good look at her face, even if she was wearing makeup and glasses...
She couldn't risk anything.
The young adult made her way to the glass, admiring it from afar, as to not attract attention from the store clerk, they might recognize her voice later if she was caught as a suspect.
Thankfully there weren't many people around. Just a worried-looking adult man who was frantically searching the glass, a married couple, judging by the matching rings, and...
And another adult man with orange-tipped apricot hair halfway covered by a purple silky hat, he looked classy and uptight, not even a strand of hair poking out of place and his clothes were freshly ironed.
But his posture said otherwise.
He looked bored, tired even. He held a clean cane in his fingers and was twirling the priceless thing about, not even acknowledging her presence and fixing his glasses with carelessness.
She only kept her head down and kept looking at the glass.
Nineteen caught sight of a clerk cleaning a necklace, but she seemed to have forgotten something and left it on the counter.
'Who would just leave that out in the open?? That's a horrible idea.' She thought inwardly.
"Must be first day on the job, who just leaves that stuff out? Right?" The strange man from earlier called from behind her.
'What is with this guy? Why announce that?'
She brushed him off and kept her distance, he was watching her now. She needed a distraction, before the clerk came back.
Nineteen walked past the worried man and observed him, he was nervous and looking for something in his pocket, when she looked closer, his credit card fell out of his pocket.
Jackpot.
Nineteen subtly kicked it by the unsuspecting couple and asked, "What are you looking for?""My credit card. It..it fell out, I think. I don't know what to do now. It could be anywhere!"
This guy looked ready to faint, but Nineteen smiled, "Maybe someone's seen it in here, just ask. We can all look then."
He looked up, "But what if they take it?"
"I'm not letting anyone leave until you find it."
He smiled, "O-okay." He turned to address the store, "Has anyone seen my credit card?"
Everyone looked down.
Go!
Nineteen swiped the necklace and ducked down as well, smiling when the couple noticed the card and handed it to him with matching smiles.
