This story takes place between the 6th and 7th seasons of the revived series. It has an alternative ending so in this case, there will be no season 7. I also make a lot of references in here. So if you haven't seen Doctor Who through Season 6, you might want to watch it first. Enjoy!
My name is Storm Owens. Or at least, that's what most people call me. My real name is Alfie Owens. Sounds too childish to me. I am 16 years old. And this is the story of how I met the Doctor for the second time.
"Alfie! You're gonna be late!" says my mum, Sophie.
"I know!" I yell back. As much as I love my parents, sometimes I wish they would just give me some space. Ever since I was a baby, they were always really attached to me, because 'we don't know what's out there' or 'which day will be our last' and all that crap. They always told me stories of an old man, who looked young, and was from outer space. They say that he had the biggest hearts in the universe, and he even helped them become a couple. I'm not really sure whether to believe them or not. I guess it doesn't matter.
"Alfie! Come on!" I come running down the stairs to find that my bus was pulling away. Uggh. If only I was a year older I could just drive to school. "Better get walking sweetie." Mum says.
"Can't dad just drive me?" I ask. My father is Craig Owens, who works in an office, I don't know where.
"He's already at work. I would drive you, but I have to catch my plane to Africa." she says. She works with orangutans in the rain forest. "Shoot, I've got to go. Bye honey! Have a great week! I love you!"
"Love you too." I say. Then I start running to school. Fortunately, I only live about a kilometer from school.
I get to school only about 2 minutes after the first bell. I run into my first period physics class. We have a substitute teacher. He seems kinda different. He's wearing a tweed jacket and a burgundy bow tie. He starts to write his name on the board. He writes 'The Doct', then erases it and writes Dr. Smith. Some girls laugh. He seems familiar.
"So. Physics. Phy-sics. Physics!" The man says.
"Shouldn't you take attendance?" a girl asks.
"I suppose so," he says. He goes through some names and then says,"Alfie Owens." and then he looked puzzled. Some people giggled at my name.
"Um, I prefer Storm." I say. Now his eyes open wide and he just stares at me.
"Okay, um, Storm. Can I speak to you after class?" Uh oh. 45 minutes go by and the bell rings to let us out of class. I go up to the desk and he just stares at me for a while.
Finally, he speaks. "Is your father Craig Owens, and your mother Sophie Owens?" he says.
"Yeah, how did you know? Did you read my records? Are you some kind of stalker?" I ask.
"No. Don't worry, I won't hurt you. Here." He hands me a leather wallet with a blank sheet of paper inside. "Show this to your next teacher, and come back here."
I look at the paper. "It's just a blank sheet of paper." I say.
"Yeah, but what is it now?" he says.
I look again and now it's a pass to get out of school for the day. "How did you do that? What did you do?"
He smiles. "It's psychic paper. I'll explain later. Just give this to your teacher, and keep picturing it exactly the way it is now."
I do what he says, and my math teacher excuses me to go home! I head back to my physics classroom, and the man is there, but he is in front of a big blue box.
"How did you get that in here so fast, and quietly? I was just down the hall for two minutes!" I exclaim.
"All will be explained. Just come inside." he says as he walks into the box.
"I'm not going in there! Both of us can't fit in there! What would we even do in there?" I ask.
"Tell me Storm, have you lived in the same house for your entire life?" he yelled out.
"Yeah, ever since I was born. Why?" I saw a small glow from inside the box and it made a weird whooshing noise. What could he possibly be doing in there? I walk over toward it and peer inside."Oh my God." I take a step inside. I step right back out. I run around the small blue box to make certain that it wasn't just an illusion. It wasn't. "It's, it's bigger on the inside!"
"Yeah, I've noticed." says the man with a smile.
"Who are you?" I ask.
"I'm the Doctor." So he is real.
"Doctor Who?"
"Ha ha, dangerous question." he says.
"You are an alien with two hearts, you're older than you look, and you helped my parents get together."
"Ooh, a smart one! Yes, that is true, all of it. This is my time machine. It's called the TARDIS. That's Time and Relative Dimension in Space. I've met you before, too. Your crying saved your father from becoming a Cyberman. I was just checking up on some old friends. Ah, the Ponds." He started staring into space.
"So do you travel alone?"
"No, not all of the time. I have companions, but they come and go." He had a sad look now. "It's time to go home, Storm." He started flipping switches, and pressing buttons, and all the while that whooshing noise was in the background. "Who started calling you Storm?"
"My dad." I said.
"Ha! Remind me to tell you that story sometime. Ah, Stormageddon, Dark Lord of All." With a ding we landed. "Well, here we are. Your house, 8 hours into the future." says the Doctor.
"Wait, does that mean that I just-"
"Yes Storm, you just time travelled."
"-with a bow tie wearing alien."
"Yeah, it's cool. Bow ties are cool." We both laughed.
"If it's 8 hours into the future, then my dad will be getting home any minute. You can see him again!" I ran out of the TARDIS with a whole new feeling. "C'mon Doctor! You can see my dad!"
"I'm afraid I can't Storm."
"Why not?" I ask.
"If I were to stay, you would all be in danger. I didn't come here for you Storm. I'm sorry, but I didn't. I came here to escape. I just so happened to run into you. I'm sorry, but if I stay, for even another 5 minutes, I'm putting this entire planet in extreme danger. But I want you to do something for me." He runs back into the TARDIS and comes back out with an old stetson. "I don't want you to tell your father of mother or anyone about what we did today. It would be too dangerous. Just give this to your father and tell him it's from an old friend." Then he handed me the stetson and started walking toward the TARDIS.
"Will I ever see you again?" I ask.
"No one will ever see me again, Alfie. Goodbye." Then the TARDIS dematerialized and I was left standing there with the old stetson.
Then I realized that I still had the psychic paper! I open it up and there is a message. It says:
You can keep the psychic paper.
Remember, better a broken
heart than no heart at all.
