Colby was stuck in his nineteen-year-old/twenty-year-old body, even though he looked very young, he was more dominant than before. It had something to do with Dear Old Reggie's experiment, which went wrong. It was painful torture, one that gained nothing for either the old man or Colby, but at least, he looked old enough to live as peacefully as he could. He even changed his name to Brock, refusing to go by Hargreeves, for people would immediately recognize him. He was, after all, the most dominant-looking one in their group. Other than changing his name, Colby moved to California, and he couldn't be happier. He started a new life, meeting people, who he became friends with, fairly quickly. One that was his best friend, Sam Golbach. A blonde and funny boy, with whom he started making videos on youtube, soon brought them to be famous YouTubers and ghosthunters. The two were very close to each other. Sam knew everything about Colby and vice versa. They've known each other for a very long time and although Colby was way older than Sam, stuck in the young body made people believe that they were friends in school, which both boys went with the story.
Both had many adventures and although Colby kept checking on V, Klaus and Diego, the contact was not as well as it was when they were kids. But They weren't awkward, whenever they did talk. Sam got to know V and thought that she was a very nice girl, which made her happy for she only ever got compliments from her brother. But as the Hargreeves grew apart, not having time for meeting or calling, since they all worked, or in Klaus' case, he was getting drunk or high every day, Colby grew accustomed to the new life, without worrying for any of his siblings, although deep down he did worry. But he trusted that they were old enough to take care of themselves. Colby also knew that he will never love someone the way he loved Five. It was understandable. After Five left, Colby was taken by Reginald for private experiments and missions. Colby had enough of the man, but as much as he wanted to, he promised her that he will take care of his brothers and sisters. So he did that. Leaving the academy every once in a while not caring about the experiments that will follow as punishments. It's been a very long time now. Once the kids in the academy were old enough, they all left the old man, chasing their own dreams. Colby became finally himself, and although, he was still mad at Five for leaving, he carried on, knowing that there was no point in holding a grudge against someone who wasn't even there. And after the time-traveller went missing, Reginald noticed Colby's weird behaviour. The pale skin, or the lack of energy to do anything. So he did tests, but even that seemed to only tire the boy more. That's when the experiment came in. A brilliant idea formed in Reginald's head, to look into the mind of the already suffering boy. Pogo was not up for the experiment, but he had to follow orders, so he did. And so did Grace. Both of whom never left Colby's side after the experiment was done.
Oh, the screams, that would leave his mouth, always made the kids flinch. They were heard in the entire academy and even though Luther and Allison never were close to Colby, they flinched every time they heard his piercing screams. It wasn't until Reggie finally noticed the blue and green ribbon-like energy, that was wrapped around Colby one day, that he understood what was going on with his beloved, yet rebellious number. Not only did the children have powers, but they also had soulmates. An unbreakable bond between two people, that would never die. And it seemed to Reggie, that Five and Zero were soulmates. That explained many things. Zero was known to break most of the rules. And he spent most of his time with Five, it was only a matter of time, before these two would finally be together. But Reginald didn't make a comment about it. Five was gone and Colby was not well. So, after the experiment, he explained what a soul bond and a soulmate are. That was the only time when Reginald showed a softer side. Colby just cursed the man, saying that he already knew about it and Reginald, for the first time, showed regret for what he has done. Not that Colby cared, because the pain was not worth it. Ben's death also hit Colby hard. It hit them all, but Klaus and Colby were the most devastated.
