Eleanor

I woke up to the subtle sound of a door closing as if someone left not wanting me to wake up.

I slowly opened my eyes and adjusted to the dim light from the bed lamp sitting on a wooden table beside me.

Wait, a bed lamp? Wooden table?

At that moment, my eyes were now wide open--taking in the unfamiliar sight before me.

White curtains hanged and draped all over the queen-sized bed where I lay down.

The clean white sheets felt smooth to the touch as I ran my hands on them as I was sitting up on the edge of the bed.

This isn't my bed. This isn't my room.

My heart started beating fast.

Alright, calm down, Eleanor. Breathe in, breathe out.

I might be having this sleep paralysis again. Alright, okay.. close your eyes, pray and relax.

After 30 seconds, I opened my eyes. I'm still in the same bed, same room.

Suppressing the urge to scream, I tried to reason with myself again.

Alright, this must be a crazy dream. I would probably just wake up anytime now. I tried closing my eyes but panic started to creep in.

I decided to look around me and check my clothes. I was wearing a white long--but very comfortable night gown. At the foot of my bed were folded clothes. I reached out to it and realized that the folded clothes were mine.

Then, a sudden flashback came to my mind.

I was in my bed in my own room, wearing an oversized t-shirt and shorts, listening to Spotify.

I was about to fall asleep when I heard a noise from the roof, like something or someone has fallen from the sky because there was a loud thud.

I took my earphones off and opened the door to see what the commotion was.

Weird.

The terrace looked peaceful and the roof above looked fairly normal and no movements were visible.

Was it just my imagination or was it just the neighborhood cat? A loud sound like that would've startled my parents in the first place, but it seemed like they didn't mind or hear.

I went back inside and closed the door and decided to go back to bed.

As soon as I turned from the door, I saw a shadow that moved very quickly at the periphery of my eye, then suddenly, everything went pitch black.

Then, I woke up to this.

I held the folded clothes to my chest, as I braced for the possibility that I have been kidnapped.

The stifled scream turned into silent tears as my mind raced and fear clouded my mind.

What the hell am I going to do? Should I scream and ask for help? Should I escape? Should I ru-

The door knob slowly turned. The door creaked.

I quickly put down my clothes where I found it, then pretended to go back to sleep.

I heard footsteps approaching.

A woman, maybe in her thirties, spoke in a rather loud whisper and with a thick accent.

"You think she's awake?"

Another woman replied, this time a little older and somewhat mature.

"I don't think zo. Master Clyde's spell iz very powerful. She might wake up the day after tomorrow. After all, the spell lasts for three days. And it's only been a day."
