The rain started to pour down. Wetting the Earth and drowning the small creatures crawling on and in the dirt. I walked through the familiar path. Not bring an umbrella to protect me from the rain but it never bothers me. Rain always makes me calm just like how you usually did.
Walking past the cafe where we went for our first date, I enjoyed drinking my coffee whilst you ended up with a chocolate drink. I asked why you only drink chocolate and never drink any coffee and that's where I learned how you hated the taste and it makes you feel old.
Besides the cafe, there's a florist owned by an old woman. She's so kind to her customers and always gives the best price in this town. I always stopped by and bought a bouquet whenever I'm on my way to visit you and your mom. You always complained about how I never brought you one and I would laugh it off every time. The rain was getting heavier. The old lady was frantically trying to save the flowers that were displayed outside. Decided to help the old lady, I carried some of the flowers inside the shop.
The old woman was kind enough to give me a free bouquet as a token of thanks and I got one of your favorite flowers. Maybe today's the day that I finally gave you the bouquet that you always requested. Maybe I'll even stop at the convenience store to buy your favorite Peyoung yakisoba. Surely you would show off your cooking skills and say that you're a better cook than me but still love it whenever I cook.
Thunder snapping through the sky and I am still on my way to see you. Climbing the small flight of stairs. You know, the one that you fell and had to wear a cast for the whole month. You can't help but complain the whole month as you can't go into fights and bullying Chifuyu for almost everything. Poor boy but he would do anything for you.
I hate this city. There's so much of you. The ghost of you is everywhere. Even at the small gutter beside the shrine where you went for your gang meetings. You found a stray kitten and told me about it. I ended up taking it home and keeping it. He misses you, always meowing in the middle of the night towards the window where you would climb into my room.
The heavy rain started to create puddles on the pavement of the graveyard. Luckily I wore my slippers instead of my shoes. I'm pretty sure if I wore them, even fish would be able to live in there, and walking with wet socks is not my thing.
Finally, I arrived in front of your grave. Your name was written on the tombstone. I placed the flowers beside a bouquet of white lilies, probably from your mom. I sat down, crossed my legs, and began to talk about my day, just like I used to do whenever we met each other. It felt different. Everything changed when you left. I even stopped the things I used to love to do with you by my side.
"I brought flowers for you today. It was your favorite. Sorry if I decided to give it to you now. Hope you forgive me though. Just like how you used to. I'm going to move out of this town, Keisuke. This town is filled with you and I need to move on just like how you asked me to. I'm going to say goodbye to our friends and also to your mom tomorrow."
I did not notice I sat there till the rain fades away. Not until the cool breeze blew through my damp clothes to my skin. "I miss you. I do. I miss your scent, your warmth, your everything."
I stood up from my former position. Blood rushes through my legs, signing that I've been sitting for a long time and haven't moved from my original spot. "This is goodbye, Kei. I'll come and visit you whenever I'm in town."
The wind once again blew. Though this time, it was warm. Comforting even. I laughed. Thought that it might be you, scolding me for getting drenched in the rain but at the same time giving me your hugs to keep me warm.
