So I've wanted to write an Austin fic for a while, but I know I'm not the best writer so I've been holding back... Ah, hell, I've come this farSo this chapter is just an introduction, laying down the foundation for the story to build on. I wasn't totally pleased with it, but it'll do for now
Any feedback, if I've made any mistakes or you've got any notes, comments are always appreciated 💛
I'll be quiet now,
Enjoy~———————————————————————————
Welcome To My World
Getting cast in Baz Luhrmann's Elvis was an absolute dream come true. You were in disbelief from the moment you received the call, all the way until your flight landed in Australia and even until you reached the set. In fact, right the way through the filming process, until the films release, you were still dumbfounded. Before, you were a little known actor who dabbled in the music industry, and had never been offered such an opportunity as this.
Elvis had always been one of your top icons, having grown up hearing his music for as long as you could remember. He was possibly your first ever crush too, the moment your innocent youthful eyes gazed upon his face on your grandmother's old records, you had fallen for the man hard. And when you watched his hips shaking for the first time... well let's just say your fantasies went wild. You had always been dreaming that one day you would meet him, blissfully unaware of the fact that the man had passed, years before you were even born.
But because of your love for the King of Rock 'n' Roll, when you discovered that a biopic was in the making, you snatched up an audition the moment you had the chance. You were auditioning for the role of Priscilla, which although terrifying, was such an honour in itself. Baz was sold little after meeting you and you were cast (though unofficially to begin with) relatively quickly. He was pleased with your audition tape, but most of all it was your spirit and drive that secured you the roll. It took a little longer for him to find his Elvis though, several well known names were placed on the roster and you yourself were spared only few details. That was until he was cast.
Austin Butler, the absolute dreamboat himself, had landed the role of your first love, (well, Pricilla's at least... and maybe yours too...) Elvis Presley. You didn't know too much about the actor himself, but you were nonetheless excited to get the show on the road. Not only was it the first official film that you were going to be in a leading roll, having only landed minor rolls in shows here and there, but it was everything you could have asked for. Almost too much for you to ask for, yet here you were, heading over to Australia to meet with the cast and soon to begin filming.
You had flown back to Australia a few times to meet with Baz and a couple of the other cast members. Meeting Tom Hanks was surreal, the man was a legendary actor and you'd grown up seeing him on the screen, so seeing him up close had took you for a loop. And then eventually you met Dacre Montgomery, to which you had to keep swallowing to ensure you didn't start drooling down yourself. The man was just as stunning, if not more so, than he was on tv. He was lovely too and you quickly formed a tight friendship with the Aussie.
And then you met Austin. Your heart skipped a beat when you laid eyes on him for the first time, and when his gaze met yours... you could have lost yourself in the deep blue orbs that were his irises, could have dove right in and let the soft waves of colour engulf you.
"Well, (y/n) are you ready to meet your counterpart?" Baz had asked as a tall blonde glass of champagne headed through the restaurant towards you, the pair of you taking a stand to greet him.
"Austin, how are you?" Baz chirped, wrapping his arms around the man.
"Hey, Baz! I'm doing great, what about you?" Austin replied, eagerly returning the hug he'd been pulled into, clapping his hand against Baz's back affectionately. His eyes were closed and his face was gentle as he embraced the man, the hug a sweet gesture for you to see of the pair.
His deep, smooth voice sent shivers down your spine, goosebumps forming on your forearms as you stood beside the pair, awaiting your introduction.
"Great, great," Baz spoke as he took a step back, one hand keeping ahold of Austin's shoulder as he stepped beside you. Baz's free hand landed supportively upon your shoulder, bringing you a little closer to Austin.
"Austin, this is (y/n). (Y/n), Austin." He said, squeezing each of your shoulders before allowing you to continue your own introductions and stepping away.
Austin's smile had faltered shyly as he turned from Baz to you. Man, if he was a glass of champagne, you would down him in a single gulp. Every last drop... Shaking yourself out of your thoughts, you delicately, yet excitedly, took the mans extended hand into your own.
"I'm (y/n), it's such a pleasure to finally meet you, Austin." You chirped, smiling from ear to ear as you gripped the mans hand. His large, tanned hand, dwarfed your own as he grasped yours and shook, sweet yet firm.
"Hey, (y/n). I'm so happy to finally meet you." Austin spoke, smiling so genuinely that it melt your heart.
"God, I'm so excited. Aren't you?" You gushed, practically vibrating as you placed your free hand atop Austin's that your were already gripping onto.
Austin seemed quite taken aback by your forwardness, but didn't shy away from it. His body language relaxed as he gripped your hands in his, smiling brightly. "Yeah, I'm terrified," he let out, laughing somewhat awkwardly, as though he hadn't meant to say those words. "But, excited, too. Of course." He finished.
You giggle and say, "Oh yeah I'm bloody terrified too, but I guess that's just part of the fun, eh?" You spoke back, smoothing over his anxiety, which you could tell he appreciated.
"Absolutely." He grinned, gaze softening, and before either of you could say anything else, Baz spoke.
"Look at you two, our very own Elvis and Priscilla." You noted a slight teasing note in Baz's voice, feeling a light blush dust over your cheeks. And you were convinced you caught a little bit of pink on Austin's face in your peripheral vision. "I can already feel the chemistry. I guess I made the right decision, eh?"
"You got all that from one handshake?" You joked, Austin's laughter bubbling out beside you as Baz huffed out a chuckle. You could feel Austin relax some more, the ice melting quickly between you. Remembering you still had his hands in your own, you began to loosen your grip, eventually allowing your arms to fall comfortably to your sides. But the heat from his large hands remained.
"Now, now, I can still have you fired, you know," Baz joked through a lighthearted smile, replanting his hands on each of your shoulders. "Now let's go meet everyone else, shall we?"
