𖠿 #spicy noodles ː 🎵︕ ꎺ
IRLas ( y/n ) finished the last transaction of the day, her phone dinged with a notification from youngsoo. the bouquet was handed off and she waited for the elderly woman to leave the store before picking up her phone. it was common worker manners.
'what's for dinner?'
youngsoo had such a nice way of inviting himself over. it only took one dinner for him to get comfortable dropping by whenever. ( y/n ) cursed at herself whenever she first realized this.
in all honesty, she was planning on ordering takeout for the third time that week, dismissing the back thought of gaining unhealthy weight due to this — it was cheap and easy, good enough for her.
she responded with an emoji of a takeout box, cleaning up the messes in the back so she could close down the store. youngsoo gifted her a roomba after many complaints about her back pain and requests for a back massage — he may own a judo studio but his hands did wonders for the back and neck. ( y/n ) let the roomba run, wiping dust and dirt off the counters, putting away her tools and leftover materials, and filling the vases of clipped flowers with sugar water.
'i'm parked outside (^_-)'
"this guy," she muttered, grabbing her keys an stuffing her phone in her jacket pocket. it was chilly in the morning and still quite chilly even a few hours before sunset. ( y/n ) turned locked the doors and headed towards the parked hyundai next to the fire hydrant.
"yellow hello," youngsoo greeted, rolling down the passenger side window to wave. he was such an odd personality, but ( y/n ) didn't mind. it was a refreshing change from her day-to-day life.
"i'm pretty sure that's not a saying," she chuckled, tapping on the door. "i'm also pretty sure you can't park here."
"who says i'm parked?"
"funny," she raised her eyebrows, entering the car. "did you clean it? smells nice."
( y/n ) earned a punch to the arm and immediately felt at ease. all the tension and stress from the day seemed to ooze out of her just by his presence and it was times like these that she was thankful she spilt tea on his judo uniform, though her bank account felt opposite.
"i'm feeling noodles tonight."
"noodles?"
"spicy noodles."
this was the general vibe of the car ride to the grocery store. they would bicker on and off and listen to the radio, switching between the two throughout the ride.
because of how poorly the outing was planned, they were forced to do their dinner shopping at a convenience store around the corner from ( y/n )'s apartment. she frequently visited the store whenever she was working on new music because she'd rather not waste time cooking.
youngsoo immediately reached for instant ramen to put into their basket — ( y/n ) lost count after 4. they grabbed other snacks, both knowing they wouldn't eat this all tonight but it was nice to soak in each others presence.
"how's the shop?" youngsoo asked, glancing at the other half of the pair as she loaded the basket with different milks.
"it's going." she paused for a beat. "it's not exactly flower-giving-season, and this company keeps trying to buy the store."
"buying it?" he acted as if she had said the most outrageous thing that night and that she considered the offer. "you didnt..."
"what? no." ( y/n ) scoffed at the accusation. sure, the money would help with her music career, but it was her grandmothers and she couldn't bear to see that legacy go. "it's my job, youngsoo. i can't sell my job."
they shopped in silence.
"how much money was it?"
"172,000,000 won."
"you should've taken the money. i would've take the money." they bickered as they checked out, youngsoo sliding his card beforehand so they wouldn't argue about who was paying; a tactic he learned ages ago because ( y/n ) had the spatial awareness of a rhinoceros.
"i'm not arguing with someone who would sell a kidney for a ps5."
Back at ( y/n )'s apartment, youngsoo raided a dresser drawer he claimed when she first moved in. he changed out of his judo clothes and into a more comfortable outfit while ( y/n ) unpacked their food. they had both bought with hungry eyes and no thought about how much they could actually eat.her eyes drew back to the unopened dm from 3racha. she felt bad for not responding to the message, but she's been too busy with running her store and making music for her upcoming album. she didn't really know what the message was in all honesty.
"your burning the noodles," youngsoo said over her shoulder, glancing down at her phone. "3racha?"
"uhm," ( y/n ) quickly turned off her phone and lowered the heat. how would she explain who they are without youngsoo telling her to block them? "they are.. they make music and they asked to collab."
"how many times?"
".. twice." before youngsoo could respond, she shoved a fish cake into his mouth. ( y/n ) knew he hated when people asked her to collab because she already made it very clear she doesn't do collabs. maybe it was the protective gene in him. "let's finish this ramen, yeah?"
