_____________
Black sighed as he looked through the case reports on his desk. Crime was always high in Fellcity, but at least it wasn't nearly as bad as it was before Black became the chief of police. Just a few years ago, the city was ruled by mafia and the police were nothing more than displays for show, pretending to give a damn about their jobs while they sat around all day drinking coffee and eating donuts. Pitiful.
When Black first came to this city, he made the mistake of falling for that display and thinking that the police could help him with his problems, but no, he discovered pretty quickly who really controlled this city. He remembered how it made his marrow boil just from watching the police turn a blind eye to all these people begging them for help. 'How could they call this justice', he had thought.
From then on, he took matters into his own hands. It was fairly easy to get a job as an officer, given how lazy his competition was, then all he had to do was get rid of old chief of police to open up the position. It wasn't that hard, since everyone knew that the chief was making deals with the mafia, so he rallied the city to support him in making a change, and the chief was soon dethroned.
Most of the city was still skeptical about his abilities to lead the police, especially since he had only recently became a citizen. How could they trust him to not become corrupted as well? But those fears soon faded when he put his foot down and started threatening the current staff with the loos of their jobs if they didn't sharpen up. Black has little tolerance for laziness, especially when the city is depending on them for protection. With Black at the rains, he managed to bring the main mafia family controlling the city to it's knees.
It wasn't easy, in fact, it took him years to get rid of them, but his hard work and dedication paid off in the end... but he still hasn't managed to reach his goal. He had hoped that taking down the mafia would put an end to his search, but it was a dead end. Not only that, but now the city is becoming infested with smaller gangs, taking advantage of the mafia's absence. He does his best to stamp them out before the have a chance to grow, but some are... slippery. It's a frustrating distraction from his goals.
He was interrupted from his reading when someone knocked on his door frame. His red eye lights glanced over his papers to see a massive skeleton leaning in his office door with that smug grin on his face. Not only was this skeleton massive in size, but he was also a massive pain in the ass. Red was always looking for the chance to poke his head in Black's office and annoy him with meaningless chit-chat. Red as fully aware that he was busy, but Black suspected that he does this on purpose just to try and get a rise out of him. He figures that Red picked up that habit from being in the mafia. Yes, Red was the son of the former mob boss who ruled this city, and for whatever reason, he decided to become a detective. Black would've thought that the guy would hate him for putting his father behind bars, but surprisingly he took his training seriously (even when it was made harder now that Black is the chief).
Black was hesitant to let Red join the force, but... they were in desperate need of staff with the rise in gang activity, so he couldn't be picky. What was even more surprising was that Red was pretty damn good at his job. He always caught his suspect, and to this day, not one criminal has managed to get away from him. But despite all of that, he still found time in his schedule every day to annoy Black.
"What is it this time, Red?" He said with a frustrated sigh. He wasn't really in the mood to deal with Red's antics... well, he's never in the mood for it actually. The large skeleton lumbered his way through the door and plopped down in the chair across from Black's desk, setting a coffee down in front of him (making Black quickly slide a paper out of the way of the beverage before Red could set it down on it, which would've damaged the paper.)
