In the deepest thicket, you can hardly believe it,
A lovely face hid as in the most beautiful dream.
It was dainty, always wore a smile on its face,
It enchanted a boy, ignited in him a bright light.
A light that flickered before him like the evening glow of the sky,
A light that offered him tender, pure love.A light that he would protect forever,
A light he wanted to hold in his arms.
To move with him in the same beat over the soft grass,
That tender lips too would lay upon his.
For no matter how much offside the lovely boy kept hidden....
For at least one person, he was perfect.~♥~
With one last glistening sunbeam, the sun peeked out through the wildly grown undergrowth, bathing everything in its precious golden glow. Time seemed to stand still, no creature dared to interrupt the precious silence of the forest. Only the gentle ripple of a nearby stream continued to play its melody uninterruptedly. Thick clouds of mist formed over the valley that Ludwig could observe from the mountains. It was as if nature had covered his native village with a veil of clouds to protect it from any dangers that might threaten it; to keep it hidden from the magic that lay beyond the gently sloping cliffs that encircled the village of Rulid in its secluded beauty.
Numerous plants wrapped themselves around the stone, hiding it under their green veil and breathing life into it as if a nature spirit had kissed it in person.
Ludwig felt his lips tingling and heat gathered in his cheeks. A kiss from a nature spirit...How much he had wanted exactly that since his return from Crystal Lake, only a few weeks ago.
It had been an evening like the present one, the forest was caught in the golden sunshine and in the light one could see even the tiniest specks of dust dancing through the air like tiny crystals. Ludwig had decided to take a break by the lake after completing his last patrol, because just a few days earlier there had been breaking news that a gang of shady characters was wandering the woods and causing trouble. As a verified swordsman, it had been his duty to patrol the borders, and while his brother was allowed to take over the cooler east, which protected his sensitive skin from the sun due to the dense trees, Ludwig had to go to the west.
When he thought back on it, he almost laughed at himself.
At first, the thought of hiking up that mountain every day to wait for hours for something to happen was a thorn in his side. He thought he would only exclude himself even more from the community of the village, he would rot in his loneliness, which from now on took him in its shackles during the day as well as at night.
And yet it had been quite different from what he had expected.
He could never have imagined being gifted with an encounter like this.At that time, Ludwig had decided to make his way home, choosing the route near the shore of a mountain lake. The water rushed, creating tiny waves in which the light reflected like tens of thousands of diamonds. An orange hue drew on the surface of the water, catching the precious golden sun. Wild reeds gathered at the edges and a handful of water lilies stretched their dainty, pastel pink blossoms towards the sky. Dragonflies buzzed by here and there, their iridescent wings adding the finishing touch to the idyllic scenery. It certainly seemed cozy, even romantic to the young swordsman, snapping him out of his otherwise stressed and fast-paced personality and forcing him to become quiet for the moment...breathing in the cool mountain air, feeling the sun on his skin, hearing the faint sound of cricket music...The smell of ripening fruits rose to his nostrils, his eyes were slightly dazzled by the golden light....
Unsuspecting, he had gone on, gradually enjoying his previously dubious task, when suddenly loud laughter came to his ears. Crystal clear and like a choir of thousands of angels, the voice imprinted itself on his mind, arousing his curiosity and tempting the otherwise so strict and rule-abiding Ludwig to drift away and allow himself to be distracted. He wanted to know where that voice came from, who it belonged to.
