Mates

Sooo this little fic is sort of a continuation for the Emma-forgives-her-parents scene. David, Hook, Mary Margaret and Emma talking

"I guess we owe you a thank you." David started a converstation with Killian, while they were walking back to town. Emma and Mary Margaret were in front of them, talking about some stuff that had recently happened. "Well, a lot of thank yous."

"For what exactly, mate?"

He presumed that it is all about the problems they finally solved. On the other hand, he didn't exactly understand why they thanked him that. He would do it anytime, because he cared about her.

"Well, I suppose Emma forgiving us was mostly your doing." David hadn't approved of him for a long time. But after all, he had to live with the fact that Emma and the pirate were together, and they didn't have any intentions of leaving each other's side.

"The forgiving part was up to Emma, I just tried to talk to her about it. But I'm glad it worked."

"Yeah, but earlier today we didn't think she would forgive us so soon." David let out a sigh. "What did you tell her, by the way?"

"Just the truth. Things like that you didn't intend to let her down, and that you are good people and you wanted the best for her." He explained, and he meant it honestly. He might not like that they lied to Emma, but he knew that the last thing they wanted was to hurt their daughter.

"We told her the same things..." David murmured, almost in a whisper.

"Yes, but she tought it was only self-defending." That was the point when he realized how patheticly that would have sounded. 'We were just trying to protect you.' Everyone would have said that. And although it was the truth, it clearly didn't work with Emma, who was the most stubborn person they knew.

"No, I think she just needed to hear from someone who hadn't disappointed her before." David smiled at Killian sadly.

He didn't know what to respond, but it felt so amazing that her love's parents finally considered him as the person he had become. He even felt like family when Emma was around.

Emma suddenly turned around to face them, with a soft smile on her face. "Be careful, because I'm gonna think that you two are becoming mates." She said the last word with Killian's accent, who was ready to answer.

"Your father made quite sure in Neverland that we were never going to be mates, love." He laughed.

They both remembered that day very well. It was one of the worsts for the prince, and he might have been way too rude when those words slipped out of his mouth.

"What happened back there between you two?" Mary Margaret joined the converstation with curiousity in her voice. The two men looked at each other, couldn't decide who should have answered.

"Well, I might have said that Emma was never going to like him." David said carefully, knowing what was going to happen.

"You said that?" Mary Margaret exclaimed, giving his husband a furious look.

"Aren't you supposed to be on my side?" He choked, returning that look.

"Oh. Of course. Besides, we can all agree that you weren't right." She smiled, but David didn't really appriciate her sentence.

"Hey, I'm here too." Emma waved her hand. She just couldn't let them pretend that she wasn't there anymore.

"Then tell me, Swan. Was your father right?" Killian teased, with a wink on his face. Emma just rolled her eyes, and grabbed his hand.

"We are going to get something from Granny's. See you at home."

"Now I'm sure you were wrong, mate." He shouted back to David, but Emma just pulled him with her, escaping this awkward converstation - which was only awkward for her. "See?" He lifted their intertwined hands, and now David was the one, who rolled her eyes.

"You are like children." It was only a murmur, but of course Killian heard it.

"Why, Swan, I think your father is finally starting to approve of me."

Emma stopped, grabbed her boyfriend's collar and pulled him closer for a long and passionate kiss. He was surprised, but returned the gesture.

"I'm still here, pirate." David shouted annoyingly from the back.

"Approve of you, huh?" Killian chukled.

"You know I would be really angry right now if you weren't so bloody amazing." Killian complained, which made Emma giggle. God, he loved so much when she giggled.

He pressed a small kiss to her cheek, and they continued walking hand-in-hand.

Uh, it didn't turn out the way I wanted it to turn out, but I hope it's still enjoyable.xx
