jaehyun stands in front of the kim's old apartment complex, the place where he had met yerim so long ago. and the waiting had begun.

the whole time he was standing, his heart sped with anticipation, hoping that it was the person. mingyu's reaction confirmed his thoughts and he wanted to confirm it with yerim.

and yerim walked slowly to her old house, each step almost weighing a thousand pounds. it's not that she was dreading it, or maybe she was...but she was more nervous than anything. not knowing if jaehyun had thought it was her or if he found out it was her, what his reaction would be.

she sees the familiar figure standing at the bench she ran into him year ago, when she was a small 5th grader. now, that memory seemed like it was yesterday as yerim took the remaining steps towards jaehyun.

"jaehyun oppa?"

he heard the soft voice and turns around to see the face that had been engraved in his head for the past week.

"it's you, you're squirtle," jaehyun takes a step closer to her.

"you're a first year."

step.

"you met me when i was in 7th grade, when i was walking to mingyu's house."

step.

"mingyu, who's your older brother, is on the basketball team."

step.

"you made kimchi fried rice and said it was your favorite dish."

step.

"your favorite drink is strawberry milk."

step.

"the ring on your middle finger is the one the production team shares."

step.

"and when you smile, your smile looks like squirtle's."

jaehyun is at arms length away from yerim, who's speechless from how he found her out.

"you're my secret admirer, the person who's been putting those notes in my locker."

the tension is so heavy but at the same time, so light. both of their hears were beating so loud that they were wondering if the other could hear it.

"i am, i'm squirtle," and yerim feels her arms getting pulled and she is soon embraced in jaehyun's arms.

"i found you and i'm so glad it's you. i've been thinking about you so much, i was hoping it's you."

it was a dream for her, to think that her first crush likes her back.

"kim yerim, i like you, a lot," jaehyun confesses when pulling back. "so will you be my girlfriend?"

and the girl didn't have to hesitate to say

"yes."

the two pull in again for another embrace and their smiles are evident as they laugh in happiness

"also, i missed another thing," the senior asks with a teasing smile. "there was another interesting clue..."

"what is it?"

"you said your cheeks only turn red when you're embarrassed or shy. which one are you feeling right now?"

"ugh, i thought you would forget that one," yerim covers her face with her hands while jaehyun laughs at her cute actions. "but maybe shy?"

"awww, is little yerimmie so shy in front of her boyfriend-ow!" she slaps her now-boyfriend on the arm with rolling eyes.

but underneath that annoyed look, a smile starts to appear on her face.

because the one she had liked for so long, finally was able to share those feelings.

so let that be a piece of advice. that a note written on a squirtle-themed paper can be the start of a beautiful relationship.
