You searched around the block for a while before dialing Giorno's cell. It rang for a moment until the other line clicked.
"Hello-"
"Please leave a message at the to-"
"Dammit."
You walked for a while more, stopping to check at the boy's house, but eventually giving up and going back home.
You knocked on the door of your house. Once, twice, three times, then a fourth, but there was no answer.
"I know you hear my knocking!"
Finally, the door swung open.
"Don't you have a key?"
"Even if I do, couldn't you just open the door?"
Diavolo walked back inside without a word, you following behind him until you made it to the living room.
"You said you'd be back later tonight."
"Did I? Well, things didn't go how I thought they would."
"How so?"
The both of you sat down across from each other, Diavolo picking up a book as you slouched back into the armchair.
"I couldn't find Giorno, so I decided to come back here."
He looked up from his book. "Without dinner."
You frowned. "We have food in the house."
You sat in silence. Him reading as you stared into the distance.
"What are you looking at brat?"
"You're pretty, that's all."
"The hell are you talking about?! Show some respect. Not too long ago you were working under me."
He scoffed and you laughed.
"In theory, I still do work under you."
The elder shut his book, his gaze shifting to you.
"What do you mean?"
"You want to know more about my stands power right?"
