It was the hair. That very long, very black hair. It was impossible not to look.
Alan was talking to Miko, who was sitting on the opposite desk, facing him, when he caught a glimpse of her through the windows. She was walking behind Mr. Guerrero, their homeroom teacher.
The class fell silent the moment she walked through the door. Anyone would admit she was... breath-taking. It was her first day so she wasn't in uniform. Instead, she was in a black sweater, black pants, black shoes. And with her long, black hair framing her white, European face, she did cast quite a spell just standing there.
"Go on, Ana. Introduce yourself," Mr. Guerrero encouraged. "And you, be quiet," he added, addressing the back-row guys who started making a fuss, elbowing and kicking each other.
"I'm Ana Gomez," she started.
...
There was a brief pause before Mr. Guerrero realized that nothing more would be added. "Go on, Ana. Don't you want to tell your new classmates where you're from? Tell them about your hobbies. I'm sure you'll find a few girls here who share your interests."
"No, thank you," she dryly answered.
"Oh. Well, uhm, that's okay. I suppose there are plenty of time for that later. Why don't you take that empty seat behind Alexa for now."
And with that, Ana stepped down the platform and officially joined the class. This would later become a long story, but nobody could have known at the time. The day the girl in black joined year eleven's A class, golden boy Alan Benedict Casiño finally met his match.
