A Simple Life

Simple is boring, but also safe. This is what ran through Lacey's head as she experienced yet another night out with her friends at Dave's Pizza Bar. A place where she had been coming to spend weekends since she started high school four years ago. Lacey kept thinking of the completely normal life she led as her friends shared this weeks gossip.

"Lace, what do you say we get out of here, and go to my house? No one is home" said Pex, a boy who Lacey had hooked up with a couple of times, but had gotten a little too attached for her comfort. She'd known him since 2nd grade, so she didn't feel bad turning him down cold. "Sorry, but I'm gonna head home. Bye everyone. See you tomorrow at the Senior banquet" she said as she collected her things and made her way to her car and hearing her friends scattered goodbyes.

Lacey felt a little bad that she gave her friends the cold shoulder and had left Dave's so early, but she was tired of doing the same things every weekend with the same people. Lacey had always been a free spirit, and she knew there had to be more than life than letting it pass you by with no adventure. Her train of thought was fitting with what was going to happen to her the next day; an adventure is just what the universe had in store for her.
