James reached his house, the old mansion that he had despised all his life. As soon as he stepped into the house, his father had already gotten one of the bottlers to summon his son to his study.

"Yes, father," James hinted his presence the moment he reached the doorway.

"I heard that you wanted to stay at the beach house until the wedding, yes?"

"Yes."

"Why is that?"

"I need space."

"Space is all this house has," his father laughed. "Tell me the real reason."

"There isn't any, I just want to mentally prepare myself before the wedding. I don't have a choice  here, father," James raised his voice. Being forced to marry just for the sake of business was vile and pernicious. He wished he had the power to take control of his own life.

"Alright, whatever you say, James, as long as you do as I wish, I will not interfere with your personal schemes." He opened a book and said, "Now, leave."

James gathered his things and clothes. He packed in two luggages and had the butlers to load them in his car. Just as he was about to step out of the house, he stumble upon Denise. The truth was there, neither of them wanted to be married to each other, why? because they don't love each other and yes, they were fearful of their powerful parents. One time, Denise disobeyed her father and ran off with a man she loved many years ago, her father sent him to jail for a murder case and let him rot in jail. He did so because her lover was just a school teacher who was from a middle class family. He would offer no benefit for the family. But, James was not, James was worth more than 30 billion, his father has an empire that will be passed down to his son in a few years.

"Oh, you're here," Denise smiled. "I was just about to call you."

"And yet, you are here, in my house, right in front of me."

"Don't need to be sarcastic, James, I am here to see your father. My father had sent me to pass some documents to him."

"You guys don't have runners?"

"You and I both know why I'm frequently sent here," she stared at him. James knew the reason. Their fathers were trying to make the two of them meet each other since they both refused to go on dates. They were literally avoiding one another.

"Have you found an event planner?" Denise asked. "It's the one job that was given to you to show your contribution to the wedding."

"As a matter of fact, I have," James was proud, like a little boy showing off in front of mother. "Don't think otherwise."

"Well?" She crossed her arms and asked, wanting more information about the planner.

"I'm paying her $100,00."

"Just 100?"

"Yes...why? It's too little?"

"Of course," Denise shook her head. "Pay her triple and make sure to let her know that the entire thing should be her own choice, not yours."

"Me? Why? I should be a part of it too."

"Your choices suck," she said before pushing him to the side and entered the house.

He watched her enter the elevator and murmured to himself, "My choice suck?"
