His face was blurry. When my eyes were fully adjusted I could see him, I recognized him from somewhere. When he realized I was awake he stopped running, the boy carrying me, and I swear he was going to faint. "What's going on?" I asked. He told me I had been asleep for nearly ten years and then it hit me: Who am I? The boy started to run again. The hospital behind us had flames flaring out the windows. I couldn't help but shake like crazy I was freaking out inside, but the boy kept running. He looked afraid. The plastic thing under my nose itches and the blue dress I'm wearing keeps riding up on me. There is a needle with what looked like throw-up in it taped to me-gross!
My name is Marissa. I like that name. He told me his name is Caleb and that he's my stepbrother. He brought me inside an apartment with faded yellow walls, the paint peeling off, and a small fridge near a twin size bed. He set me down on the small brown chair and disconnected all the needles on me. I'm so confused. I asked why he had to run all the way over here and he told me that the SSB (Secret Spy Bureau) set the fire and we're going to leave me in there, so he got me out. He said that the cops outside the hospital were also part of the SSB and they couldn't be trusted. This is craziness! I asked if we had parents. Caleb said that my mother Leah died in the car accident I went into a coma because of, and so did his father Joseph. This makes my heart heavy, but I don't remember my parents, so I'm not too sad. Caleb made us some tea and explained that
the SSB is a terrorist organization trying to take over. I fell asleep after that, but I don't know how I have been asleep for ten years right? Ha.
