Jordan's POV
I stared into the void, a bottomless pit of blackness and fear. No light ventured into it, the light from the over world fading the deeper the pit extended. I glanced upwards, seeing the sun setting on the horizon and the stars beginning to be revealed in the dusk light. All the wildlife around us had fallen silent, the wind no longer rustling the trees and the sun's light becoming a startling contrast to the blackness of the void. Courage was something we all seemed to be lacking at that point, nobody willing to take the jump first or to initiate it, all of us living in fear of the absolute unknown that lay beyond the void. We needed to jump.
After we had all woken up in the courthouse, we ventured back to our homes and began piecing our lives back together. The bodies of the shadow entities had been cleared up during our paralysis and all evidence of war preparation had been removed – only memories and my sword wound proving that the bloodbath had actually occurred. I kept my wound secret, not wanting to have to think of yet another lie to convince the others that nothing strange was going on. The others past seemed to have been replaced with false memories – the childhood section deliberately fuzzy to ensure that they never remembered. Whenever they joked about the 'past', I had to nod and laugh along – their memories meaning nothing to me as I knew it was all lies.
The story of the land had continued as normal, our new presence merely speeding it up. The gods had chosen a new story for our remaining time in the world, one that tied us all together. Ianite showed herself to the others, pretending that she had just been revived by her brothers and 'officially' meeting me for the first time, a look of pity in her eyes when she saw the pain written in mine. Soon Furia ventured out of the Nether and turned against Dianite, attempting to gain the powers to become a god herself – one strong enough to overthrow all the gods with ease. For once, all the gods had teamed up together and forced all the followers to work together. We were all pretty pleased with the teams; however we had to sacrifice a lot to defeat Furia. None of us came away unharmed – especially me. We had a joke in the group that I would eventually marry Captain Capsize but sadly that never came to be.
Furia had been looking for weak points in each of our mentalities. Sonja and Tucker were easy, hurt one and you hurt the other but she could never get close enough to touch either of them without getting a sword swung at her face. She whispered to Tom at night, filling his head with lies that none of us liked him and how we were all going to betray him – that Dianite never believed in him. Sometimes Tom came and slept in my house, knowing that Furia would leave him alone when I was present. Furia searched for days, hunting through memories and history in an attempt to find my weak point and we all really thought she couldn't find mine. Sadly I was wrong, so horribly wrong.
We had ventured to Inertia, the gods guiding our ship as we prepared for a final battle. Searching through the village, we found keys that allowed us to enter Ianite's home but it was tainted by dark forces – causing mobs to appear and attempt to hinder our progress. Soon we reached what looked like the temple centre, with the Scales of Justice standing above what looked like a throne. On that throne was Furia. Everyone drew their swords, knuckles clenched and jaws tightened as we prepared to lunge forward and end this traitorous, power hungry fool. Dianite's fury was emanating off of him in waves, driving our anger and irritation subconsciously as we stepped towards Furia. However she did not flinch, no fear crossed her face, only a smirk that reminded me of the battlefield. She gestured upwards, our gazes following the direction she pointed to reveal Captain Capsize in a cage...
I was shocked, terrified and furious all at once. My face drained of all colour and my hands began to shake, all the confidence that had been driving me forward slowly draining away. I couldn't fathom what was in front of me, the obvious truth that I refused to admit. I was going to lose someone I loved, again. My hands balled into fists and I marched towards Furia, ignoring the cries of protest from my friends and the rumbled warnings from the gods. Furia had what was mine and I had to get it back. Pulling my sword from my sheath, I lunged towards her in an attempt to slice into her skin – failing as she dodged to the side with a dark chuckle. Arms grabbed me and pulled me away, Tom and Tucker holding strong as I fought against their hold. The gods had stepped in front of us, raining lightning and balls of magic upon the traitor before stepping aside.
