It was a perfect day. I didn't have anything to do, it was summer and that meant no school. I was fixing my copper brown hair (as always), when all of a sudden I heard the phone ring. I ran downstairs, and picked up the phone. The number was unknown. I put the phone up to my ear and said...

"Hello?"
"Hello Lauren. I'm at the hospital with your mom."
"WHAT?! What happened?"
He made me feel like someone just punched me in the gut after I just had the biggest meal of my life. But for some reason his voice sounded familiar - I just couldn't put my finger on it.
"Oh nothing to worry about. She's fine. See you later, Bye."
He hung up.
See you later?! That makes NO sense! At first, I thought this was just one of those prank calls. Then I really thought about it. I went to check in my moms room to see if she was still sleeping. In the corner of my eye I saw the clock. It read 9:43 AM. Did I really sleep that long? Wow. A new record! This is starting to freak me out. The phone rang again and when I picked it up, I saw that the number was the same as before. This time I picked it up and said, "Listen up! You do NOT have my mom!!!! Im going to MARCH down to that hospital and see for myself!"
"Woah Lauren! Don't talk to your-
I hung up on him. I got on my bike and biked to the hospital. When I got there, I parked my bike in the bike lot and walked through the spinning doors. I marched up to the front desk and said, "Is there a Dove breunig here?"
"Um yes, in room 67 on the upper level."
I felt faint. This really was true? Oh no. My mom is truly in trouble! I ran up the stairs ( I had too much adrenalin that I couldn't take the elevator) as fast as I could. I was going so fast I fell once and scraped my knee on the concrete stairs. It started turning black and blue and bleeding. But I couldn't stop - I had to save my mom! I ran to room 67 and knocked on the door as hard as I could. (Like anyone would answer?!) When I opened the door I couldn't believe my eyes!
