~ Tay's POV ~
I look in the mirror, admiring my overall look with how my mother was able to make me handsome today.
"Do you like it?" She asks as she leans forward, holding both of my shoulders and looking in the mirror.
I smile at her and touch her right hand with my left, "I do. You did great today, mom. It's like I'm not looking at myself! Where did all my wrinkles and eyebags go?"
She chuckles so lightly, "I want you to remember yourself today in a beautiful way. You deserve it."
I look at my mother dearly. She has always been supportive of me and New right from the very start. She welcomed New with two open arms and treated him as her own son.
"After all," she said, "He's gonna be part of the family real soon!"
"Mom! We've only been dating for a few months!"
"Oh, believe me, son. You're gonna end up marrying that boy. I can already visualize it."
"Mooom!"
Indeed, mothers know best.
Just then, the door opens, and in comes two of my best friends— Off and Arm.
"Where's Alice?" I ask Arm. Who else would I ask but her husband?
"Still outside. She said she doesn't want you to see her crying, snots and all."
I laugh as I stand up and welcome my friends with an embrace, "Or what? Does she think she'll lose her cool in my eyes if I see her cry?"
"Nah. She's just really ugly when she cries," Arm responds.
"WHO ARE YOU CALLING UGLY?!" A voice bellows in the room. I remove myself from Arm's embrace and see Alice by the door with a big, round belly.
I smile as I make my way towards her and give her a full embrace, "Damn, my arms can no longer meet at your back," I pull back and admire her tummy, "How far along are you now?"
"I'm in my 28th week now. Just a few more and we'd be able to see the twins!" She says happily. I stare at her for a while as I notice her red and puffy her eyes is, as well as her bloated nose. She's been crying. Understandably so. But today is not the day for tears.
I lean down and whisper to the fetuses, "Hey, Jade. Hey, Jane. Don't tire mama so much, okay?"
I straighten up and look at the four people in my room. I take a deep breath then smile, "Shall we go?"
They nod in agreement. My mom picks up the bouquet of Iris and Daffodils from the vanity table and walks towards me, "Let's get you married now, shall we?"
I nod in glee.
Alice opens the door and outside the room, I see my grandmother together with my sister. I walk towards them and they both welcome me with a hug.
"Congratulations, little bro! You're finally getting married!" My sister says quietly.
When they pull back, my grandmother reaches for my face. She holds both of my cheeks and stares right into my soul, "Tay. I want you to know that I am so proud, so proud of you."
My eyes instinctively water as I look at my fragile grandmother but she's quick to wipe away with her thumbs before they even fall, "Today is not the day for tears. All I want to see from you is a sweet, sweet smile. Enjoy this day, okay?"
I nod at her. She then leans in and kisses my forehead. After that, she whispers, "I love you, my grandson. I love New as much. I know marrying that boy will be one of the best, if not the best, decisions you're ever going to make in your life."
