During the walk back to Oliver's house, Cameron could help but think of James and how he was doing. He had been told the hospital was going into lockdown and the best thing for him to do would be to return home, lock the doors, and arm himself if needed. Oliver's family had a house out in the middle of nowhere, where his father had a large collection of guns, but he never told anybody that.
"It's just down this road," Oliver said as they began their journey down a long dark dirt road.
Jeremy and Cameron followed close behind, as they were walking they heard a twig snap and they all turned and looked around with a panicked expression plastered across their pale faces. Jeremy had thrown something into the bushes when they weren't looking to startle them.
Faking surprise, Jeremy stuttered "w-what's that?"
"I don't know," Cameron replied. "It sounded like a twig snapping".
Jeremy looked around and grabbed Cameron by the arm, leading him further into the darkness. "Let's go," he whispered.
Cameron looked around and gazed at the darkness as his friends disappeared into the shadows. It was getting darker by the minute.
"Jeremy?"
"Over here," Jeremy said, stepping out of the shadows. "Are you scared?"
"Are you?" Cameron asked.
"No," Jeremy answered.
"What if the killer follows us?" Oliver asks as he turns on his phone torch and scans the dark road.
"Guys, this is so fucked".
"We should keep going," Cameron replied.
"How much further, Oliver?" Jeremy asks from behind him.
"My parents have a house pretty far off the road. It's hard to find" he said with a smirk. "You can see the light from here".
Jeremy watched Oliver point and he tried seeing the light but he wasn't able to make it out, instead, it looked like a car coming over the hill. Their eyes went wide. Jeremy faked horror.
"Car! Hide!"
They all ran off the road and hid in the darkness. Nobody knew whom to trust. While he was hiding in the bushes Cameron looked at the others, he didn't even know if he could trust them. Once the red sedan had gone by they all returned to the road. They looked at each other and then continued on. Oliver looked at his phone as it vibrated, and several messages came through.
"Okay, we've got people coming over soon. We are all going to stay together".
Jeremy smirked. Fuck, he wanted to slice someone's throat! But he'd keep his cool and wait.
He smiled to himself as the three of them walked on.
When they finally reached the house, Jeremy thought about having some fun before they killed them. They arrived at the Farmhouse, Oliver looked around as a strong gust of wind swept through, all the lights were off and then he remembered nobody was home tonight. It was completely silent.
Cameron opened the side door and they looked in.
"This is it," Oliver said.
Cameron was nervous, he glanced at the others.
"You okay?" Jeremy asked.
"Yeah".
"Come on," Oliver said. "We should be safe here for the night".
Cameron looked around. "Where is everyone?"
"My parents are in Russellville".
"Oh," Cameron replied.
Cameron reached up, flicked on a light switch, and looked around the living room as the wall lights provided a basic glow. Jeremy observed the room, the corners weren't lit, that would work well for him later tonight. Oliver closed the door behind them and switched the lock over before he locked the deadbolt. Jeremy told the others he was going to make sure the other doors and windows were locked, they nodded and he walked off and observed the house. He looked around the kitchen, the centre island of the kitchen was flat, he found the knife block and looked at the blades before he pulled one up and smirked. He heard footsteps approaching so he lowered it down into the block and quickly rushed over and locked the kitchen window as Cameron walked in.
"Hi," Jeremy said softly.
"Jeremy, I'm scared" Cameron confessed.
Jeremy nodded with a smile. "So am I, we will be okay".
Oliver walked into the room holding what appeared to be a shotgun that came from his father's locker, Jeremy looked at it with a look of awe, he wanted to use it to blow Oliver's face clean off.
He was loading shells into the weapon when he looked at the others. "We've got a pistol as well if someone wants it?"
Cameron put his hand up. "I'll take it".
Jeremy shrugged and reached for the knife block. He pulled up a kitchen knife and looked at it. "I have this knife".
And boy oh boy, Jeremy couldn't wait to slice some fucking throats.
