Now dressed and ready for their usual vigilante activities. Batman and his sons scowled. They were back at the Vale household and it was time for justice to prevail. In the pitch-black darkness, any of the residents would have been none the wiser.
Crossing the rooftops and landing inside Roger's office. Batman and his Robin/ex robins scanned the area. There was Roger, he was holding a shotgun and he had it pointed at the back of Batman's cowl.
Red Hood tensed, he could have easily dispatched this man. But he was ordered to only use pathetic blanks. His finger twitched aggressively on the trigger. Robin looked at his brothers, his katana out and ready. Calm and collected Damian threw a Bat a rang, it cut the man's skin, causing him to grunt in pain. Ducking and rolling, to avoid a possible assault; Nightwing received the gun after a light tussle.
Seeing his brother struggle against Roger because, despite his small size, the man had an impeccable grip. Red Robin assisted. With a bit of force, the gun was sent flying to the other end of the room. Robin seeing an opening, pressed the cold steal of his Katana against the man's neck. The little nicks of the sword drew blood, pleasing Robin.
"What have I done wrong, Dark Knight?" The man to his credit was either incredibly stupid or just too full of pride to bow down regardless of the Katana pressed against his neck.
"Let's see, does abusing your wife sound like something wrong?" Red hood roared, and a glint of fear shone in the man's eyes at that moment. He knew red hood killed, everyone in Gotham knew it! Roger gulped as he met the state of the Dark Knight.
"Robin release this piece of shit, please." Batman commanded darkly.
"Gladly, he is dirtying my Katana too much anyway." Robin spat venomously. The sixteen-year-old seemed to hold a vendetta. A groan escaped the abuser's mouth, he had sustained an injury seemly in the arm.
Roger shifted his weight. His eyes widened like golf balls. He paled as white as a ghost. A purple and black shadow invaded the room. A human size hole appeared. The batfam readying their weapons for the possible threat. Stopped for a second, weighing their options as feminine stepped into the room via portal.
"And when felt Robin's anger, this is not what I expected." The figure said professionally as she took in the scene in front of her.
"Raven." Robin said, his tone seeming slightly enamoured. As he placed his Katana in his holder and fought the feeling to embrace his girlfriend.
Their eye contact was held for several seconds. Raven flushed, as Robin grinned. Batman coughed, interrupting the moment.
"Raven, do you mind assisting? Now that your here, of course." Batman said smirking.
"Sure. What do you need?" Raven replied, keeping her voice emotionless. But, she did share a glance with Robin, who nodded approvingly.
"A head dive. I need evidence." Batman said bluntly. The once-smiling father was replaced with the Knight of Vengeance.
Twirling her fingers within Robin's. She looked at her boyfriend. Who whispered, brushing a piece of hair from her face. "It's your choice. I am not going to force you, and will stand beside you against my father should it come to a disagreement." Robin explained, much to the smirks and sly smiles of his family.
"Thank you, Robin."
Stepping toward Roger, Raven touched the man's head. Her eyes glowed white, and Damian who had seen her do this before rushed to be beside her. Raven folded, falling to the floor albeit gracefully. Damian had grasped her waist anchoring her to him. While Roger slumped against the wallpaper, looking rather dazed.
A few minutes passed. Damian still held on to Raven refusing to leave her, even to pace as he often did. Red Robin was sweating profusely, and the floors groaned under his weight. He swung his bow staff, hitting the walls as if he was playing an instrument.
Red hood polished his guns. He had found himself laying down on an armchair, his legs propped up by the recliner. Batman narrowed his eyes, observing Damian's actions towards the girl, who was on his chest.
Damian caressed her cheek, feeling the skin warm under his fingertips. He felt her shiver, allowing her to grasp his shoulders in her trance. He began transferring body heat to the girl as best as he could.
"Garfield owes me fifty bucks." Dick muttered staring at the couple. Damian glared at him. "Grayson. Garfield knows?" Damian said through gritted teeth. The boy seemed to be in two minds. Kill his elder brother and leave his girlfriend on the cold uncomfortable floor. Or stay with the girl, ignore Grayson and get his revenge later.
He chooses the latter, much to everyone's relief. The air thinned at that moment, it became very difficult to breathe. Raven woke up with a harsh gasp, panicking while checking that she had all her limbs.
She paled, nausea overtook her. She felt sick. That man was a demon all on his own. All those women, all those souls had been taken too soon.
"Damian, I need air." Raven said, her voice raspy. Damian recognised the symptoms of a panic attack, held as she hyperventilated. "Raven, listen to me. Focus on the sound of my voice, like your meditation. In and out, in and out." Robin said softly.
"That's it. Keep following my breathing." Damian said, motivating the half-demoness to calm herself. The panic had dissipated. But, Damian was furious, knocking the man out with the hilt of his katana. Before opening a window, letting the cold air hit his face. The voices in his head wailed. Ra's Al Ghul was motivating him, pushing him to take that man's life in his hands and torture him until he begged for death. He thought he'd dealt with his demons long ago, but it appears they had stuck with him, taunting him with his old ideals.
Damian having enough of the fight within the confines of his mind threw the sword to the ground, and it clattered. Holding his head as if he was facing the world's worse migraine. He screamed, it was agony! Batman seeing his son's internal conflict was beyond plain concern and it showed.
His eyebrows fused, knitted together. His veins which pumped the very essence of life through his body ached painfully. His limbs were strained, reaching highs he never knew he was capable of. Pools of liquid came forth and for the first time in his entire career as Batman, he cried...
Raven, seeing Damian in such distress, pushed herself towards him, paying the man in the corner no mind, Red Robin carried the body, placing handcuffs on the man's unmarked wrists.
While Red hood called the GCPD for a collection they had enough physical evidence, Raven's head dive helped ensure that Vickie was telling the truth, and helped make sure that no one accused Batman of being biased because of his association with the Vale as Bruce Wayne.
In the coming days, Raven and Damian revealed their relationship, and attended regular therapy sessions with the justice league alongside their fellow titans; to help deal with the mental strain of their superhero lives. Damian thought it was useless and a waste of time. But with Raven's help, the teenager was convinced.
Then came the trial, where Roger was sued by the Wayne's for his illegal pictures; domestic abuse, where Vickie found the strength to look at her abuser and the jury and some other crimes related to his workplace conduct, particularly to those of the female gender. And with Raven's testimony of what she had seen in the short, beaked-nosed male.
He was found to be a sick man in need of treatment and sentenced to Arkham Asylum and found guilty of all charges. Leaving Damian to return to Jump city and his father and brothers separated, and Batman returns to his MO of work alone.
