Arthur walked through the halls and passageways of his lords lavish palace. Walter Archard was one of the strongest lords in all of Europe. Arthur worked for Walter since he was a newly trained knight, almost hours after he'd completed his squire ceremony. Walter was looking for knights that could work for him until death. Arthur was a sole boy with no family tethering him back, so naturally he took any chance he could get for a job. Arthur eventually became Walter's best knight and best friend. He had always been invited for dinners with lords and Knights currently in alliances. Arthur had a flashback of dinners turned bloody. He shook it off and continued down the hall until he reached his lords throne room.
Arthur bowed in front of Walter and Walter called for him to rise. As soon as Arthur rose all the formality was lifted. Arthur and Walter exchanged a handshake and looked at the spectacular view of the forest that protected their land.
"Arthur, I have grave news to give to you. Gerald of Northport has plans of a full scale attack on our city of Gretenberg. I understand that you needed time to stay with Lizbeth, Geoffrey, and Scarlett, but this attack may come in 5 dawns or less. We need to evacuate everyone from Gretenburg so the front lines may be open and less casualties can be faced." Walter was dismayed and he did nothing of the sort to hide it. Arthur put his hand on his friends shoulder. "You helped me from day one, and I will do everything I can to repay that debt my friend." Arthur then walked out of the room with confidence that this battle would be successful.
Arthur opened the large door that revealed the outside world to him once again. It was significantly colder than when he entered. Arthur donned his hood and walked through the grass to the resident's cottages on Walter's land. He found his cottage and then walked in. Arthur was a favorite of Walter so he had promised to give him special accomadations. Lizbeth, his wife, greeted him at the door. He kissed her cheek and then took off his over clothes and boots. Storming down the stairs came Geoffrey and Scarlett. They both hugged him tightly.
"Arthur what was the whole meeting with Walter about?" Lizbeth was always concerned with what was going on between the lords. She always says they have so much power they make wars for no reason just to see the commoners suffer. Lizbeth used to be part of Westwinds. The lord who ruled there, John Willing, had always executed his subjects for no reason at all. Arthur found her in the prison one day, he rescued her and they have been together ever since.
"It was about Gerald's possible attack. 5 dawns or less he said, everyone is going to be moving into Gretenburg so Geoffrey and Scarlett need to go down and see if any exotic goods are coming in from the mainland."
Scarlett nodded: "Ok father!" Scarlett was the obedient child who would do anything her parents asked. She enjoyed running errands in Gretenburg and visiting all of her fathers friends from childhood, who he rescued from Eastwood's last lord, Crandob. Crandob had captured people and killed them for sport. Walter's special division executed a small attack on Crandob and he was assassinated. Eastwood was where Arthur was from so most of Eastwood's main city, Wild, populates Gretenburg.
"Scarlett you always suck up to mom and dad! Aren't you independent at all?" Geoffrey sputtered. Geoffrey was the defiant child in Arthur's family. He wanted to be a knight but nothing like his father. He wanted to fight for where his father lived, Eastwood. The reason for this being was that he wanted to restore order to the chaotic land that was Eastwood. Geoffrey always noticed how sad that his father became when news of how terrible Eastwood was. Even though Geoffrey didn't want to be like his father, he ended up doing the opposite and worked to be better than Arthur was.
Arthur cut Geoffrey off. "Enough of your yapping Geo! This very well might be the last night I get to eat with you, so lets make it pleasant ok?" Geoffrey skulked off to the table. The four said grace, then ate the homemade meal in front of them.
