CHAPTER TWO

-

She gasped awake, coughing. She quickly sat up, startled to find that she was suddenly on a soft bed. As she looked down at her now childlike body, she swallowed and tried hard not to choke on the sudden acidic feeling rising in her throat. She panted, gripping hard on the silky texture of her pastel pink bed sheets.

As Sakura looked around the small room, memories flooded her brain like water, easily slipping through each and every wall she had ever put up. Her glowing green eyes grew dilated as they darted back and forth around the pink room filled with stuffed animals. Her eyes easily saw through the shadows in every corner.

Fuck he really did it, Sakura thought breathlessly. I-I'm really back!

Just then, a lock of long pink hair fell in front of her face, partly obscuring her view of her childhood bedroom. Her lips quivered, as she slowly reached out to grasp it with shaky hands. Bowing her head, she roughly gripped the lock and bit down on her lip, drawing blood. She watched as a drop of red fell onto her extended forearm. The red was a haunting contrast on the pale white of her skin. Like a burst of color in a black and white setting.

And suddenly everything felt too real.

Her eyes began to sting as tears slowly began to flow out of them, unforgiving and unrelenting in its rapidly quickening pace. She squeezed her eyes shut, and continued to bite down on her bloodied lip, trying to anchor herself with the pain.

Cmon Sakura your better than this! Sakura thought. You have faced a literal god and had been the only one to survive. This shouldn't be something to cry about... Though no matter how much she tried to convince herself, she soon began to crumble.

Her small shoulders shook as broken whimpers left her bloodied lips. She clutched her chest, right where she knew her heart was and sobbed. She sobbed for the life everyone could have had. She sobbed for the times she couldn't in the war. She sobbed for the life her dead teammates could have had, the life her family could have had...
