Chapter 10

Eren had fallen asleep in Mikasa's room holding her on her bed. Her head fit perfectly in the crook of his neck, with Erens arms wrapped around her protectively. Mikasa began to wake up and noticed what time it was. The sun was already up in the sky, sparkling through their window. She moved her head down onto Erens chest, not wanting to get up. Surprisingly, Erens chest felt more muscular than she thought. She felt his breathing go up and down, still holding her on his arms. She didn't want to, but they were going to be late getting up so Mikasa had to.
"Eren!" Mikasa said looking up at him.
His eyes slowly opened and looked down at her and half smiled.
"Good morning. Mikasa." Eren said still half asleep.
"We're going to be late." She said
Eren just sighed and squeezed her tighter and stroked her hair. Fortunately, they had fallen asleep in their survey corpse uniforms and didn't have to get up and change.
"Fine, but I wish I could stay here with you all day." Eren said.
This made Mikasa smile. Eren kissed her on her forehead and they both got up tiredly. Mikasa brushed her hair slightly and Eren just fixed his with his fingers. He was holding her hand as they began to walk out of the door. Mikasa looked down on it as they were walking down the hall way.
"Eren....." Mikasa began. Eren turned his head around to look at her.
"Hm?" He said. But he didn't have to have answer the question. He looked down at his hand and realized what she meant.
"Should we let them know?" Mikasa asked.
Eren stood there for a moment and thought to himself.
"Slowly." he answered. He lightly let go of her hand and smiled at her. She smiled back. They made their way down the stairs and into the dinning hall. Every one was all ready there. To their surprise, Berthrolt, Reiner, Christa and Ymir were in the dining hall.
"Hey when did you guys get here??" Eren said.
They had all be out with the military police for some business between the survey corpse and them, Along with Erwin, but he came back sooner than the rest to warn them about Annie. And decided to stay.
"They got here last night." Answers Connie whom was sitting at the table eating toast. Levi was standing by the window sipping on some tea. Of course Sasha was eating everything she could, and the rest had already finished. Armin eyed them both as they walked in, with somewhat of a smirk on his face. Eren could read his thoughts and glared at Armin. Somehow, they could read what they were saying to one another by facial expressions. Armin put his eyebrows up and looked at Mikasa who was sitting down, then back at Eren. He glared back at him. Armin motioned his heads towards her and back at him as if to say. "Did you tell her?" "Are you together?" Eren nodded his head. Armin new they didn't want to say anything out loud. His face lit up and looked around the room and went back to being low key about it. Eren looked up as if to say "yeah, yeah, yeah." Everyone else was mostly quiet except for Hanje and Sasha of course. Mikasa didn't see what Armin and him were doing. She was lost on her own thoughts. Mostly about Eren. She was sitting across from Armin and Eren came down to sit beside her. They began to eat whatever was left on the table. Armin was reading a book, but he couldn't help himself but to smile at Eren and Mikasa. Finally he thought to himself.
"Maybe we should hold it off a little longer, today doesn't seem like a good day." Eren whispered to Mikasa, hoping no one would hear. Most of them didn't. Except for levi.
"Hold what off." Levi says. Still staring out the window. Eren was surprised he heard him.
"Oh, nothing important." Eren said.
"Tch." Levi said.
"I don't believe you, now what is it."
"Really sir, it's nothing."
"Fine then I'll see you afterwards in my office."
"But-"
"No buts jaeger."
"We don't keep secrets here."
Eren looked down in defeat.
"Yes sir." Eren said.
"Eat your food......." Levi replied.
Eren sighed and put his head down on the table. He poked his head up and looked at Mikasa. She didn't seem to be paying attention to what was going on. She was looking at something suspiciously. Eren found her gaze and tracked it to Reiner and bertholt. He was puzzled. But then he looked at them to. They were not talking just standing by the window. There was something strange about them now.
Mikasa really didn't look like she trusted them.

*** later ***

"Have you gotten anything out of her yet?"
"No sir, we haven't."
"Have you even though of torturing it out of her."
"No sir, we didn't want to risk it."
"Bring the brats down here."
"Which ones sir."
"All of them. I want her to see the face of the people she once knew. The people that were her friends."
"Yes sir."
Levi stood there at the cage where they now kept Annie in chains. She sat there glaring at him through the bars. He had just sent Hanje upstairs to get everyone.
"So. I hope you like how comfy your temporary home is." Levi says sarcastically.
"Temporary, I believe is right." Annie said with the same face.
"Are implying that you are going to escape?"
"You tell me? Captain?"
" I'm not here to play games, leonheart.
But I think my idea and your idea of 'temporary home' is slightly different."
"....."
"Incase your to stupid to understand, that means after we are done with you, you will be prosecuted for your crimes against humanity."
"I know what you mean.... Your going to kill me once your done."
"Oh no. 'Annie' death, would be to easy." Levi walked closer to the cage.
"You see, you killed, the people I cared about. And I want to see you suffer for it."
Annie didn't even flinch or make a sound at what he said. Just then, they heard the rest if the team come down the stairs to the basement.
"You called sir?" Armin said.
"Yea come in." Levi said still looking through the cage.
Eren, Mikasa, and Armin, made there way to the front beside levi, while the others stood around. Armin looked at her with a straight face and Eren was once again holding onto Mikasas shoulder.
"Annie." Mikasa began.
"Why are u trying to keep this such a secret?"
"......."
"Why did you try to kill Eren...."
"...."
"Why are you doing this....
"......"
"Answer me..."
"....."
Mikasa slowly made her way up to the bars and pressed her face into the cage, holding onto it with her hands.
"You can't keep your mouth shut forever." She said in a low tone voice.
"Watch me......" She replied With a cold dead stare.
All of the sudden Armin ran up to the cage and locked his hands on to the bars. He didn't know what came over him. He just felt so angry at what she did. And he was tired of playing games.
"Look here you bitch! We aren't going to play nice with you forever! You killed DOZENS of people, you won't tell us why! How do you think it makes them feel!!? You cold hearted shit!!? Don't think for one minute that those people didn't care! That we didn't!"
"Armin!" Mikasa says as she moved him away from the bars forcefully.
The team was shocked. They had never heard him like this before. Eren held Armins arm, holding him back somewhat, as Armin still stood there and glared at her. Levi was slightly intrigued by Armins sudden out burst. It seem that his team was finally becoming the soldiers that humanity needs.
"Alright, Annie, I want you to look at your old teammates." Levi said.
"Some of them aren't here because of you....now tell me, don't you feel anything. These people once trusted you. They were your friends. You turned on them."
"......."
"Don't you feel anything inside your cold hearted body.... They cared about you...and you tried to kill them..."
".........."
"Fine. Today we aren't going to get anything out of you but like he said, we aren't going to play nice forever."
He began to walk away when he heard her say something, that made him stop.
"I'm not scared of you, levi." His eyes glistened at hearing this.
"Oh you aren't are you? Well, if your not scared of me, then I think if I was you I would be scared of Armin from now on." And with that levi walked off upstairs.
The team all looked over at Armin who still stood there with an angry look on his face and his arms crossed.
Soon after levi, the team made their way back upstairs one by one. Mikasa was the last to leave with Eren behind. Levi was standing up against the wall watching everyone walk past him, in the hallway by the stairs to Annie. Just as Eren was walking past, the last one to leave, Levi said.
"Eren." Not moving or looking at him.
Eren was surprised he had used his first name.
"Um yes, sir?" He replied.
Levi looked to his right and saw Mikasa making her way down the hallway behind the others. He looked back at Eren.
"Keep her, in this world you never know what words might be your last."
Levi began to walk down the hallway.
Away from a surprised Eren.
"You never know when the last time you might see her is."
He was stopped once again.
"Um sir?" He heard from him.
Levi turned his face towards Eren while his back faces him still.
"Why are you telling me this?"
Levi looked down at a picture he was holding in his hand.
"Treasure her..... I know you love her. don't make the same mistake I made."
Levi remained walking. Eren didn't know what to say. Levi clenched the photo hard in his hand while walking down the hall. Never again. He thought to himself.
