A loud, pounding knock and a certain badger calling out his name outside was enough to wake Knuckles up in the middle of the night. Knuckles recognized that voice anywhere, so he ran over to the door and opened it. It was Sticks, and she was soaking wet and shivering from the rain. "Hi..." She greeted Knuckles shyly. Knuckles wore a face of concern when he laid eyes on the brown badger. "What's wrong?" Knuckles asks Sticks, quickly letting her inside. "You must think I'm such a bother, huh?" Sticks asked Knuckles, who quickly contradicted. "No! Of course not! You're my girlfriend, aren't you?" Knuckles told her, hugging Sticks even if she was dripping wet. "Thanks Knux... But I'm pretty embarrassed to say why I'm here." Sticks tells the crimson echidna, who smiles to encourage her. "Come on, Sticksy. You know you can tell me anything." Knuckles tells Sticks, handing her a towel. "You know that grumbly growly thing with the flashy cracky thing in the sky when it rains?" Sticks asks Knuckles, wiping herself with the towel. "Wait... Do you mean the thunder and lightning?" Knuckles asks her. "Yeah, whatever it's called... I... Uh..." Sticks stammers, but Knuckles puts his arm around her. "You what?" "I'm scared of it, 'kay? You gotta problem, huh Knux?!" Sticks snarled, but Knuckles just ruffled her hair with his hand. "We all get scared sometimes, Sticks." Knuckles tells her. "Of course you're saying that. You're the tough guy!" Sticks whined, but Knuckles hugged her tighter. "Even I get scared sometimes, Sticks. Even if I'm the tough guy. All of us have strengths. All of us also have weaknesses. Sticks, I know deep inside you're pretty much the fighter, and you fight for what's right. But even someone like you can be scared of a little thunder, right?" Knuckles tells Sticks, looking softly into her eyes, making her feel a lot better. "Thanks so much, Knuckles. I wonder what I would do without you..." Sticks whispers, hugging Knuckles, blushing. "I love you, Sticks. Don't you forget that, okay?" "I love you more, Knuckles." Sticks replies, yawning. "You look tired. It's the middle of the night, you better get some rest." Knuckles advises her, but notices that the storm became stronger. "Ah! There it is again!" Sticks squealed, hiding behind the crimson echidna upon hearing the thinder rumble. "You okay?" Knuckles asks, chuckling. "I-I'm fine... I am NOT going out there unless that storm stops!" Sticks exclaims. Knuckles wears a mischievous smile. "So... You'll be staying with me tonight?" Sticks blushes furiously and whacks him on the head. "Knuckles, you perverted little..." "Hey! I mean it literally! But unless you want to do something else..." Knuckles receives another whack. "Ow! Hey! Okay, okay!" He tells her. "Good. 'Cause you better quit giving me ideas..." "Ideas?!" "Wh-What ideas? I said nothing!" "Haha, 'course ya did." Sticks glared at her boyfriend before heading over to his room.
Knuckles took a quick shower and went over to his room. He saw Sticks curled up on his bed soundly sleeping, her hair not in usual twintails but sprawled on the pillows. He smirked at the cute sight and crawled over beside her. Before falling asleep, he couldn't help but stare at Sticks, sleeping soundly facing him, just listening to the sound of her breatheing."I love you." He whispered, wraping his arms around her and sleeping. Little did he know that Sticks was awake. She opened her eyes seeing Knuckles asleep hugging her. She went nearer and cuddled under his head and hugged him back, falling sleeping despite the thunder's frightful rumble.
AN: I'm not that used to writing fluff... So I tried giving it a try. I think I did terribly, but I did it for the sake of shipping Knux and Sticks. So hope ya like it!
