Beyond The Wall

After exiting the Wall and traveling through a tunnel, three Rangers can be seen entering the woods. When one Ranger branches out, they discover a campground full of dismembered corpses, including one hanging from a tree branch. To rejoin the other two, the Ranger rides back.

WAYMAR ROYCE: What d'you expect? They're savages. One lot steals a goat from another lot and before you know it, they're ripping each other to pieces.

WILL: I've never seen wildlings do a thing like this. I've never seen a thing like this, not ever in my life.

WAYMAR ROYCE: How close did you get?

WILL: Close as any man would.

GARED: We should head back to the wall.

ROYCE: Do the dead frighten you?

GARED: Our orders were to track the wildlings. We tracked them. They won't trouble us no more.

ROYCE: You don't think he'll ask us how they died? Get back on your horse.

Gared grumbles.

WILL: Whatever did it to them could do it to us. They even k*ll the children.

ROYCE: It's a good thing we're not children. You want to run away south, run away. Of course, they will behead you as a deserter ... If I don't catch you first. Get back on your horse. I won't say it again.

Will frowns but complies. The three Rangers eventually return to the encampment, which has been entirely emptied.

ROYCE: Your dead men seem to have moved camp.

WILL: They were here.

GARED: See where they went.

The three look around, swords drawn. They can hear spooky calls and the wind. In the snow, Gared discovers a red fabric.

ROYCE: What is it?

GARED: It's ...

A Creature with glistening blue eyes appears behind Royce as he speaks. The Creature strikes as Royce turns. Will notices a man crying out. The three horses rush by him in a stampede. When he turns around, he notices a distant figure standing motionless. The child who had been hanging from the tree turns around, his brilliant blue eyes now in full view. Will pivots and bolts. We hear odd growls, see a glimpse of the Creature, and Gared is also running. A few distance apart, the two scared Rangers pause to gather their breath. Will witnesses a Creature murder Gared. The Creature knocks Will to the ground and throws Gared's skull to him.
