Dan followed me like a lost puppy, but I like puppies so I didn't mind.

I grabbed my lunch from the fridge and I sat down at a table, eating my food as Dan told me some stories about his childhood.

I smiled at how awesome his mom sounded.

I wanted to tell him that his mom sounds so cool, but Arin walked into the room, so I went quiet.

"What's wrong?" Dan asked.

I decided to just tell him "Your mom sounds so cool."

He smiled "I know, she's awesome, she wants to meet you."

I smiled, blushing "You've told your mom about me?"

I suddenly felt small under his gaze.

"Yeah, I might have mentioned you once or twice."

"Mentioned? You talk about her a lot, dude." Arin said as he opened the fridge to grab his lunch.

"Shut up." Dan demanded as his face turned red.

Arin chuckled and walked away with his food.

Dan looked at me as I giggled.

"I can't believe you talk about me to your mom." I said, blushing.

He smiled "I'm glad you're flattered."

"Of course I'm flattered, that is the nicest thing I've heard this week."

"What are the other nice things you heard?" He asked.

"Otters hold hands while they're sleeping so they don't drift away from each other."

"Aww." He said, putting his hand over his heart. (That's true if you didn't know)

I nodded "I know, it's so cute!"

"When are you two going on a date?" Suzy asked as she sat down.

"Um, why?" I asked, fiddling with my thumbs.

"Because you two are going to be an adorable couple." Suzy said as Arin came back, giving her her mug of tea.

"Thanks, Arin." She said, still looking at us.

"So... when?" She asked and Dan and I looked at each other.

"Tonight." Dan said, reluctantly.

Suzy held her hand out to Arin, to which Arin plopped money into her hand.

"Don't spend it all at once." Arin said before walked away.

"You... made bets?" Dan asked.

"Yeah, Ross was in on it too."

"How many people made bets?"

"About 10 of us."

"Who won?"

"I did, no one else thought that you two would go on a date today, so I won $1,000."

My jaw dropped.

"$1,000? That's so much." Dan said and I nodded, agreeing with him.

"Well, there was 10 people, excluding me, that bet $100 each Arin just gave me his part of the bet."

"So you're going to get $100 from 10 people?"

She nodded.

"I want that job, she just made $1,000 in a second." I said, pretending to be envious.

Suzy giggled, getting up "I'm gonna go collect the rest of my $1,000."

She got up and grabbed her tea before walking away to the lounge.

After a second we heard groans of disbelief.

"No! That's not true! I'm gonna go make sure!" Ross said as he walked into the room that Dan and I were in, and he pointed at us as he spoke.

"Alright guys, my Aussie ass is on the line, are you guys going on a date today?" He said, his Australian accent coming through.

Dan and I nodded.

"Ah, fuck." He said as he pulled his wallet out of his pocket, he opened it and pulled out 5 20's.

"Alright Suz, here's your money." He said, giving her the money.

Suzy took the money and put it in her pocket.

"Thank you." She said, walking away.
