I lifted my head from the desk, rubbing my eyes. It felt warmer in my room than before. As I opened them, I noticed my room was dark. The lights had probably been switched off. So I got up and carefully navigated my way to the door, feeling for the light switch on the wall. Once I found it, I'd click it. Nothing happened. I clicked it again, it was still dark. My breathing started to increase. The lights- they weren't turning on! I'd click the switch over and over again, expecting something to happen. But nothing did. The temperature of my room slowly started to increase bit by bit. I'd search for the door handle and open the door. The door flung open, hitting the wall with a loud crash. I'd blink, looking to my left and my right. The hallway was dark as well. Nothing was worse than the dark- the things you could hear and see that weren't actually there..

I'd start to panic- breathing faster. I'd put my hand on the wall, walking down the hallway.

"Hello?" I'd scream, "Does anyone know what's going on?"

I heard footsteps start to echo through the hall.

"Move out of the way!" A voice yelled.

I quickly pushed myself against the wall as the person ran past. How were they doing that in the dark?

I continued to walk down the hallway, my hand still on the wall to guide my way. I looked around even though I could barely see anything. There were darker figures running around up ahead. As more people ran past me, I turned down another hallway, not knowing where I was going.

After a couple minutes I stopped and bent over a bit, breathing heavily. My heat resistance wasn't that high- soon the soda inside of me would start to heat up as well. If that happened, it wouldn't be good.

I fell to my knees, grabbing at my sweater. I took it off along with my lab coat, the heat starting to get unbearable. I sat down on the floor and laid back against the wall. I coughed slightly, noticing steam start to escape from my mouth. I covered my mouth with my hands, closing my eyes. I'd pull my knees in close to me chest, keeping my mouth covered but still breathing.

People ran past me, not noticing me on the floor. But soon I saw a small light down the hall, along with the echoes of footsteps. I opened my eyes a little more to stare at the light. It got brighter as it got closer. My chest started to tighten a bit, finding it harder to keep my mouth closed. My eyes started to water and I closed them again, kicking slightly. A couple of seconds went by and the bright light was soon on me. Someone was coming with a flashlight.

"Coke!"

Someone stopped and knelt down beside me, putting their hand on my shoulder.

"What's going on with-"

I instantly removed my hands from my mouth, unable to hold it all in with the pressure buildup, and a big cloud of steam spilled from my mouth. I was panting hard, eyes shut tight.

"Coke!" The person would scream, now having dropped the flashlight and putting both hands on my shoulders.

My eyes opened slightly, tears falling from them. My vision was blurry and a ringing started to fill my head. The person's screams were muffled as I flickered in and out of consciousness. They gripped my shoulders and started to shake me softly, then violently. I'd groan, my head falling to the side slightly. My eyes started to feel heavy. Soon I was unable to open them. I felt the warm steam escape from my open mouth. The person's muffled voice was soon overpowered by the ringing in my head. And then it went silent.

I snapped my head up, widening my eyes and trying to move. Something or someone was prohibiting me from doing so. I fought hard, but it never even loosened one bit.
